New cars under $20,000
Unlike college tuition, new car prices aren't soaring each year. Thanks to very tough global competition, many automakers are lowering prices or offering attractive annual percentage rates, and nowhere is this more prevalent than in the sub-$20,000 range.
As of today, we counted 55 new cars on sale for less than $20,000 (Mitsubishi, for example, will pay you $3,500 if you buy a 2011 Galant). We picked 14 new and redesigned models worth testing — hatchbacks, sedans, SUVs, even pickups — that start under $20,000 including destination and all available factory rebates.
