Lexus LS 600h L
Seeing that Hyundai is earning J.D. Power awards, a $100,000 Lexus is no longer out of the question. But the "h" in the nameplate is small for a reason - it's a relatively insignificant feature of this luxury barge.
Not to downplay the car's claimed 5.5 second zero to 60 time and 438 combined horsepower, but the gas mileage can't top the 21/22 rating of the two-wheel-drive Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid, which at almost three tons is barely 600 pounds more than the Lexus.
For Toyota, saving the world is clearly the Prius's job. The LS 600h L exists to be huge, heavy - and with seven option packages totaling over $10,000 each - full of excess. For S-Class shoppers, however, it's a bargain.
