Ford Explorer America Concept

Even though sales have declined in past years, the Explorer is the pedigree grandfather among SUVs, having helped create the segment in the early 1990s. The America Concept, shown at this year's Detroit Auto Show in this photo, is a natural transition for this breadwinner, most notably a switch from body-on-frame to unibody construction.

Promising fuel efficiency, this Explorer focuses on lightweight materials and might one day tout a four-cylinder. Quick, somebody wake up Eddie Bauer.
