The Globe's Top Drives for 2011

Ford touts the Edges technological advances, but we liked it for what it wasa five-passenger SUV that had lots of legroom front and rear and more than enough cargo space for a small family. The standard 3.5-liter V-6 and six-speed automatic transmission is a fine combination.
A bigger 305-horsepower V-6 shared with the Mustang or the more economical 2.0-liter I-4 (projected to achieve 30 mpg on the highway) are available. The all-wheel-drive system will be popular with New England drivers and many will find the MyFord Touch system (the Sync successor) easier to use than I did. BG
