“If you have good technique, they handle identically,” Cox said. “If you’re coasting, it doesn’t matter what wheels control the car, you’re coasting. If you’re accelerating while steering on a front-wheel drive car, the front will lose traction first. If you’re in a rear-wheel drive car, the rear wheels will lose traction first. If you’re in an all-wheel drive car, it will just go sideways and lose traction on all wheels.
“Either way, you’re losing traction,” he said.
