Answer: Decrease the steering angle while decreasing speed
This type of skid happens when you’re entering a corner too fast and turning. The car ends up going straight.
“The proper correction is to take your foot off the gas. At the same time, decrease the steering angle back toward straight,” Cox said. “That allows the wheels to roll more freely and regain traction. Combined with the decrease of speed and decrease of angle, you’ll regain the grip and go on your way.”
This type of correction requires a lot of confidence. “You’re steering toward the cliff you’re trying to avoid,” Cox said. “That takes a lot of nerve.”
