Is your car attracting the wrong kind of attention? Thieves are drawn to vehicles that are most popular among consumers, have marketable parts, and blend in on the roadways, according to LoJack Corp., which recently released its annual Vehicle Theft Recovery Report.

Massachusetts ranked sixth in the country last year for states with the highest vehicle thefts and recoveries, according to LoJack. This put it behind California, Texas, Florida, New York, and New Jersey.

This list ranked most stolen and recovered vehicles that are equipped with a LoJack system, a location-based device that helps police track down vehicles. The Tahoe ranked second on a recent list of most stolen SUVs and crossovers from the National Insurance Crime Bureau.

Two Nissan models appear on LoJack’s list.

Blue was the least common color of stolen and recovered cars, while black was the most common.

LoJack reported that vehicles equipped with its device were recovered 94 percent of the time in 2012.

A 2008 Silverado was the first vehicle recovered using a LoJack device in 2012, according to the company. It’s the only pickup to make this list.

The Corolla marks Toyota’s first appearance on this list, which does not take the car’s year into account. When it comes to 2012 models, the Corolla ranked fourth for most stolen and recovered vehicles, according to LoJack.
