NEW CAR TECH AT THE NEW YORK INTERNATIONAL AUTO SHOW
With every new auto show comes new technology geared at making our vehicles more convenient, fun, and safer to drive. The vacuum found in the new Honda Odyssey attracted most of the attention at this month’s New York Internation Auto Show, but it was not the only exciting new feature. The 2014 Honda Odyssey comes with a built-in vacuum cleaner. It’s located toward the back of the minivan and reaches 10 feet to clean up the entire interior. The new Odyssey will be available this summer.

The Mini Connected technology comes in Mini’s tech package and gives drivers access to Google Maps, Facebook, Twitter, weather information, and news. It is BlueTooth capable. An enlarged version of it was visible at the New York event.

Ford’s hands-free liftgate technology is available in the 2013 Escape (pictured) and C-Max. This system includes two sensors that trigger the liftgate to go up or back down when someone kicks below the vehicle’s rear bumper.

The Infiniti Q50 has a predictive forward collision warning radar system that tracks the car in front of the car in front of it. If that car slams on its brakes, the Q50 will slam on its brakes.

New for 2013, Audi is offering MMI Navigation plus, which allows drivers to do satellite imaging through Google Earth. The new Audi Connect in-vehicle hot spot can connect to up to eight devices.
