Census finds a world of differences
From Weston's affluence to Springfield's poverty
A 55-year-old entrepreneur washed his white Porsche convertible in Weston on a recent Sunday, in a neighborhood where the cars almost outnumber the licensed drivers. At the other end of the state, the residents carpool to work - when they've got somewhere to go. Only one in four adults in this slice of Springfield has a job.

'90s boom bypassed many Mass. regions, census shows
Many regions of Massachusetts did not benefit from the economic boom of the 1990s, according to US Census Bureau data released yesterday, with incomes generally rising in the technology belt bounded by Interstate 495 but falling in one-fifth of the state's communities.
