Hi!
Welcome to Joyschtick, a blog about video games and the world they live in.
I have a confession to make before we begin: I’m not the best at video games.
::sigh::
It’s true. My love for video games has always exceeded my skill at them. I’ve been playing games for 25 of my 30 years, and I just haven’t improved all that much. But even though my hands may not have the smooth tracking and spidery dexterity required to pull off a headshot from across the map, I can touch-type like a mofo, and I’ll be using those skillz to blog the crap out of you.
Now that that’s out of the way, let me tell you a little bit about myself.
My name is Aaron Price, and I was born into a good family. I performed very well in preschool, moderately well in grade school, and somehow made it through high school. In college I studied psychology, elementary education, and finally graduated with a degree in vocal music education.
Upon graduation, I decided to do none of those things. Instead, I serendipitously landed the dream job of being a quality assurance tester for Harmonix, the video game studio that created the Guitar Hero, Rock Band, and Dance Central franchises. I worked there for four years and climbed my way up to an associate producer role, which I was summarily laid off from in 2011 along with dozens of other brave soles. The video game industry is a fickle bitch.
I’m currently a project manager for the Boston.com / BostonGlobe.com digital development teams, but I keep my ear close the ground for video game rumors and news. So far in my life, I haven’t broken any bones.
Besides playing video games, I’m the lead singer and rhythm guitarist for a goofy Boston punk band called Giant Target. We have songs about tube-shaped food, a zombie dragon, and a little guy named Poop Dog. It’s weird.
My wife rules, and we have a brand new daughter named Ellery. Because of my awesome new daughter, my time is hard to come by, so I’ll be sharing this blog with some friends. You can expect exciting guest posts from them later on.
Before we wrap up, I feel I owe you an opinion about video games. That’s what’s this all about, anyway. So here we go!
Mass Effect 3: It’s pretty good so far.
Till soon,
Aaron
