Based on his Facebook statement it sounds like Boston Bruins goalie Tim Thomas has libertarian leanings.

I believe the Federal government has grown out of control, threatening the Rights, Liberties, and Property of the People. This is being done at the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial level. This is in direct opposition to the Constitution and the Founding Fathers vision for the Federal government. Because I believe this, today I exercised my right as a Free Citizen, and did not visit the White House. This was not about politics or party, as in my opinion both parties are responsible for the situation we are in as a country. This was about a choice I had to make as an INDIVIDUAL.

This is the only public statement I will be making on this topic. TT

In that brief statement the Vezina Trophy winner hit some standard libertarian points, particularly his skepticism about both major political parties. Thomas sees an imposing federal government at every turn stripping us of our freedoms and liberties. Adding to the libertarian intrigue is the back of his goalie mask from the Olympics, last season, and this season. On the back of his mask the libertarian themed "Don't Tread On Me" along with the Gadsden snake is prominently displayed.

Even if Thomas is a libertarian he did not help his political cause by skipping out on the Bruins meeting with the president because it makes him look like he is not a team player. His selfish move stands out even more as he is one of a handful of Americans on the Bruins' roster. If Thomas is trying to convert people to his libertarian message this is not the best way to do it.
