Best spot to shoot Boston skyline at night?
I've been shooting pictures in Boston for years, but I've never taken one of those classic night shots of the Boston skyline. What's the best spot to shoot from that's not in the middle of the harbor?

Depends on what angle you want and what you want in the image. Try across the street from the Museum of Science. The Green Line bridge is there and you can get a GREAT image from one of the street corners of the Zakim bridge with the Green line bridge as a frame. Paul Revere Park in Cambridge. With a wide angle lens you can get some nice shots of the Zakim. The Hyatt Regency Logan Airport. Park in the lot, get a drink at the bar to get your ticket validated then head out to the Harbor Walk. Great view looking directly across the harbor. Excellent at sunset. I'm a big fan of shooting the skyline. I love it from Memorial Drive. Piers Park is nice. Just went there for the first time the other night. Top of the Pru is cool, too, but it's really a "skyline" view from up there. Fort Point Channel is another favorite, across from Rowes Wharf along the Harbor Walk. I've got a bunch on my Flickr, if no one minds a shameless plug, haha: http://www.flickr.com/photos/68085076@N00/ |

I agree with Piers Park in East Boston, one of my favorite spots. Also try Waites Mount in Malden. A sleepy, old, hilltop park with a big view. You can see pics I've taken at both places on my flickr page. http://flickr.com/photos/hadleygrass/ |

In Response to Re: Best spot to shoot Boston skyline at night?: Great photo's all, I wish I had half the talent! Another spot not mentioned is Summit Ave in Brookline. Posted by RTM I just took some night shots of Boston from Squantum in Quincy. Got a good pano and a couple to good shots with water reflections of the lights. You'll need at least a 100mm lens as it is a couple of miles away. |
