Best spot to shoot Boston skyline at night?
I've been shooting pictures in Boston for years, but I've never taken one of those classic night shots of the Boston skyline. What's the best spot to shoot from that's not in the middle of the harbor?

Charles river in Cambridge, in the whereabouts of MIT, and also the bridges, Longfellow and Mass. Ave.

Enjoy and check my shots from there on www.FrozenEmotions.com

East Boston waterfront where Maverick projects used to be, now its called Maverick Landing or something. Its not super high crime but I'd bring a friend if I was going at night with camera equipment.

Depends on what angle you want and what you want in the image.

Try across the street from the Museum of Science. The Green Line bridge is there and you can get a GREAT image from one of the street corners of the Zakim bridge with the Green line bridge as a frame.

Paul Revere Park in Cambridge. With a wide angle lens you can get some nice shots of the Zakim.

The Hyatt Regency Logan Airport. Park in the lot, get a drink at the bar to get your ticket validated then head out to the Harbor Walk. Great view looking directly across the harbor. Excellent at sunset.

Here are a few of my night Boston shots:

Never tried this, but always wanted to take a photo from the Arlington hills off of route 2. That will give you the land view. Larz Anderson Park in Brookline is another thought. Or, how about the top of the Pru?

Good luck.

Piers Park in East Boston is an excellent spot. A clear view of the cityscape, night and day.

I'm a big fan of shooting the skyline. I love it from Memorial Drive. Piers Park is nice. Just went there for the first time the other night. Top of the Pru is cool, too, but it's really a "skyline" view from up there. Fort Point Channel is another favorite, across from Rowes Wharf along the Harbor Walk. I've got a bunch on my Flickr, if no one minds a shameless plug, haha:

I agree with Piers Park in East Boston, one of my favorite spots. Also try Waites Mount in Malden. A sleepy, old, hilltop park with a big view. You can see pics I've taken at both places on my flickr page.

The Hyatt Harborside Hotel at Logan Airport has a great vantage point of the city.

No one has mentioned the Charleston Navy Yard at the Korean War Memorial....just walk a short distance out onto the pier for a spectacular view of the Boston skyline...you can't beat it, indeed!!

I took a harbor cruise years back and always remembered how incredible the skyline looked from the boat.

Great photo's all, I wish I had half the talent! Another spot not mentioned is Summit Ave in Brookline.

I just took some night shots of Boston from Squantum in Quincy.  Got a good pano and a couple to good shots with water reflections of the lights.  You'll need at least a 100mm lens as it is a couple of miles away.
