Have you been a Potter fan since the first installment, "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone"? What makes you love J.K. Rowling's creation? Not a fan? Why?

Yes, I am a Harry Potter fan. Have been since the first book/movie. Have read the series at least 8 times over. Such a deep and interesting world she's created. My hope is that this movie isn't as butchered as the last 2

I am a huge Harry Potter fan, I have been anxiously waiting the release of this movie.  I have read every book at least twice and this one by far has been my favorite.   Can't wait to see the movie tomorrow.

The books?  Yes.

The films?  Yes, but not so much.

Granted, the films have been superbly casted with some of the greats of British acting, but overall, they lack the detail and emotional resonance of Rowling's prose.

Yes. Have read all the books, some more than once, and have seen all the films.

I have the same thoughts as Mattyhorn. But I think that points to a flaw with many film adaptations of books -- that there just isn't enough time on film to capture all the plot detail, nuances you get with prose. Granted, some film adaptations have been good despite the time constraints, but most film adaptations are never as good or better than the original books.

That being said, I'm still looking forward to watching the movie. Wish they'd bring Alfonso Cuaron back, I think the film version of Book 3 was the best one.

I saw the first film with my daughter. After observing that Daniel Radcliffe's acting range was to drop his jaw and get very wide-eyed, that was the end for me.

Ditto, foodie, on Ep 3 - After the first two, forgettable though charming, films, "Azkaban" was the first to capture the mood and atmosphere of the books.  It's still my favorite installment in the franchise.

HUGE fan. Agree with Mattyhorn and foodie about the quality of the movies, but that is always how it goes. The books are amazing, movies generally fall short. Its tough to capture all the detail, descriptions, and character traits that the book develops.
