Tacos el Charro in Jamaica Plain is my favorite place to get a burrito, and the only place some of my burrito expert friends from the westcoast will get a burrito out here. Family-run, local businesswith the requisite authenticity and charm you'd expect from such aplace, and the burritos are big and tasty.

Felipe's in Harvard Square is also great. I really enjoy theirsalsa bar, and I think they might even be cheaper (though theirburritos are similar to) Anna's. Rumor has it, the restaurant wasstarted by an ex-Anna's chef.

Herrera's in Back Bay (purveyor of burrito carts, and operators of twostores--one near Park Street and one in the Boylston TransportationFood Court) is definitely up there, too.

Burritos on Fire, while inconsistent, is a good option if you're inAllston. On their good days, they're pretty similar to Anna's.

I even like Picante on Mass Ave. Like Felipe's, they have a salsa bar--and the free roasted jalapeno's are a nice touch.

I don't really dig on El Pelon myself, but it seems to be a bigfavorite of some of my burrito-inclined friends -- why not wait tilthey re-opened to do this feature?

I mean, the only restaurant you featured that Bostonburrito-enthusiasts I know frequent at all is Anna's (okay, Boca Grandeevery once in awhile). Chipotle and Qdoba? Corporateburritos, man, corporate burritos.

With the caveat that I'm a shameless Mexican food lovin', Southern California born, Boston transplant, I'd say it's very tough to find good Mexican in this town. But you can find it if you search it out. That being said, including QDoba, Chipotle and Boloco in a burrito contest is like including Burger King, White Castle and McDonalds in a Boston's Best Burger contest. And they picked Boloco? Are you kidding me? That's like saying a Big Mac beats a Mr. Bartlett's Burger.I like loveoneanother's picks. My Boston Best Burrito contest should have included: Anna's, El Pelon, Tacos el Charro, Picante and La Paloma. My guess is Tacos el Charro would win that one.Hopefully Wahoo's will let us open a franchise in the Northeast. That would be a gift to SoCal transplants and Mexican food lovers all over the East Coast.....

As a tranplanted Southern Californian, Picante in Central Square gets my vote for best burrito. Authentic ingredients, a salsa bar to beat the mariachi band, and a tall, cool horchata to wash it all down with makes Picante the best burritto stop in the area.

Drive 20 minutes for a Qdoba burrito? Is that a joke?

Boca Grande is my favorite (though I do love the tacos at El Charro). Their stuff is much better than this "review" suggests. Anna's is good, too, but overrated -- note the stunned amazement from the "experts" that they didn't pick Anna's, and the bit of rationalization at the end.

However, I do agree you need to pick the right "roller" at any location.

We need El Pelon on here.

Anna's? Get real. Their burritos suck. Coming from Burrito-heaven in the Bay Area, Anna's is liking eating a small hot dog. Not at all good. In fact, I refuse to go there and would prefer the corporate hacks over it any day.

Bostonians wouldn't know a good burrito if it whacked them in the face.

I used to be a fan of Boca Grande until there was a bug crawling out of my food. That soured me on their food. Plus, their chips and guac seemed to come from Costco....

Well, BoLoCo, means Boston Local Company, so I consider it local. Their burritos are good. So are the ones from Felipes.

I do like Qdoba if I'm mad hungry - they make huge burritos.

But, alas, I miss La Burrita from the East Bay. Cheap, big and good.

You should know that Boloco used to be known as The Wrap. It's like the pleather of burritos.

If it's like Pleather then Anna's is like Alpo.

People vote for Anna's because they don't know what a good burrito is... its like voting for McDonald's as best hamburger. Its dog food. Why not try an authentic burrito joint where they actually use real ingrediants and its not a factory of sub par crud.

Here Here. This battle of burritos is for people who think salsa is from a jar. Absolutely pedestrian.Actually, the best burrito in town is probably Herraras. I love El Pelon, but Herraras is better.

I had Herrera's once...it was ok at best. Not like El Pelon. Apparently they are re-opened. Time to go back tonight!

Moe's Southwestern Grill has the best burrito's in the Worcester area. I know it's outside of Boston, but I'd guess they could hold their own against any other restaurant in the state.

If you want the best burrito you ever had you need to roll to Amherst and get a Bueno Y Sano Burrito. Everywhere I've gone I've tried to get a decent burrito and this place still beats them all. When I go back to visit I have to bring back about 6 burritos with me to satiate people's needs.

Moe's Southwest Grill is the best burrito I've ever had, hands down. They are located on the South Shore and in the Worcester area. They are a Florida company, which I enjoyed immensely while I lived there. SO excited to have them here now. Lots of meat and salsa, fresh jasmine rice, choice of beans and a happy, friendly staff.

I love burritos from all the heavy hitters, but I have to say that the burritos at Tennesee's BBQ in Braintree are terrific. I know that the "die-hard" burrito eaters out there will say that a BBQ place is crap, but that added bit of smokey flavor with the classic ingredients is unbelievable!

Has no one been to Taqueria La Mexicana in Union Square, somerville ?? or Tacos Lupita in Somerville? These two places are incredible well worth the trip for all you folks on the other side of the river. Not to mention the both have much more character then the establishments on this list. Pitiful list, strikes me as more of a marketing ploy for the chain establishments, and yes annas is a chain.
