    Re: Andy Williams RIP

    Thanks for posting this, Robin39.

You know, I was a tender young thing in the heyday of Andy Williams (and Henry Mancini) and Hal David, but I've been surprisingly moved by their music in the documentary shows that their deaths have prompted in the last couple of weeks.

I remember really being moved by Andy Williams singing Moon River when I was young, before learning what was cool and what was not.  (OK, still moved, past the age of listening to others' opinions, and having a little first hand Breakfast at Tiffany's experience/hashmarks.)

And I didn't even like the David/Bacharach songs at the time - too sappy - but am really surprised at how evocative of that time they are now.  Maybe it's remembering a time when Mom and Dad were still alive, vibrant and romantic in their heyday............................

Of course I was only a baby when these songs came out!  But I remember them fondly.

Nice tribute on CBS's Sunday Morning show at ~ :55.  Maybe they'll put it up on the web.  His Moon River never made it to the charts because it was never released as a single.
