A truly great baseball movie is yet to be made. There are some good ones, though, including Soul of the Game, Bang the Drum Slowly, It Happens Every Spring ... Fever Pitch definitely captured the feel of '04.

Fever Pitch are you for real that movie was almost as bad as The Babe staring John Goodman, making it one of the worst sports movies ever made.

Bull Durham had a lot that was very real in it, Nuke at the end going from single A to the show not being part of it.

Eight man out was very good, as was for the love of the game.

On the previous post I hit the wrong button. Anyway the most heartfelt baseball  movie is Field of Dreams, the speech James Earl Jones gives about baseball through the years is priceless. The most fun is Major League with the Wild Thing and Jobu. Fever Pitch would have been better with anyone but Drew Barrymoore just like A League of Their Own would have been a lot better without Rosie O'Donnell and Madonna doing her bad girl act throghout the ages. And special mention goes to the movie Rhubarb with Ray Milland, about a cat that inherits a baseball team in New York. Sounds better that Steinbrenner.

    Re: Your favorite baseball movies?

this guy just posted baseball movies, instead of GOOD baseball movies.  summer catch, fever pitch, for the love of the game?!?!?  COME'ON MAN.  how the heck is Sandlot not on this list.  'Game 6' another good baseball flick about the '86 series.  this writer isn't a baseball fan

While not a great film, Elmo the great has some really funny moments (the series game in the rain is a riot).

I loved that speech to when I first heard it until.
Think about that speech being giving by a black man a man who grow up in an america in which blacks could not play in the majors.
If that speech had had something about say Jackie Robinson and how baseball helped show america the way on race relations it would have been so much better.

    Still a very good movie
