I went throught the list quickly but I didn't see A Beautiful Mind. That seems like an omission of some note. -

In Response to Re: Your favorite college movie?:PCU I loved the Communications major who developed the "Caine-Hackman Theory", which states: At any moment in time, at least one cable or broadcast TV channel will be showing a movie that stars Michael Caine or Gene Hackman or both Caine and Hackman.
Posted by Frodo777Agreed... One of the best college movies.. Piven and Favreau. -

This is really a pretty stupid list. It covers any kind of movie that's in any way related to college students, faculty, or even just a campus. It goes across so many different genres - comedy, drama, horror, et al - that it's impossible for these "rankings" to really have any meaning at all. How can you compare "Animal House" and "Good Will Hunting" to each other? You can't. They're both great movies, but they're so radically different that any attempt to prove one is better than the other would be meaningless.
The rankings should have just stuck to what most of us probably assumed the list would be about when we first looked at the headline: the best COMEDIES about college life. -

Paper Chase is easily my number 1.
Good Will Hunting probably second, I really enjoyed all the performances in that one.
The Rodney Dangerfield f-l!-ck (incredibly, bdc filters this word. Yo, bozos, it's a synomyn for movie) wasn't bad, a guilty pleasure. I particularly liked the scene where he hired Kurt Vonnegut to write a paper about Kurt Vonnegut, and the English professor gave him a bad grade, saying he didn't know anything about Kurt Vonnegut. As far as I was concerned that said it all about taking Lit Classes for a grade. -

Lots of great choices here, how about The Social Network or Rudy. -

Wow...no mention yet of Won/der Boys? Great flic k with a stellar cast.
I'd add: The Graduate - even though it's more post-college....
And Spike Lee's classic, engrossing "School Daze" - with one of the more thought-provoking endings I've seen. -
