Mainstream hits with a cult following:

Airplane! - "Don't call me Shirley."

The Blues Brothers - "We're on a mission from God."

Brazil (AKA Monty Python's "It's the 1984 Show")

    Gremlins and Gremlins 2.

    Red Dawn - "Wolverines!"

Spinal Tap! - "There's a thin line between clever and stupid."

Total Flops with a cult following:

    Any movie by Ed Wood.

Any ripoff of Gremlins (Ghoulies, Critters, etc.)

    Any film parodied by MST3K

Creepers - A teenaged Jennifer Connelly gets her start in an Italian horror film about a girl who can control insects telepathically.

Killer Klowns From Outer Space - A horde of violent aliens that look like humanoid Evil Clowns attack Earth. They even have clown-themed weapons like acid-cream pies.

The Room - Just plain awful. The long-haired German guy who wrote, directed, produced, and starred in it is surreally bad. Cartoon Network's Adult Swim showed it on the morning of April Fool's Day.

Trolls 2 - Has nothing to do with Troll 1 on any level. It doesn't even have any trolls in it (the monsters are called goblins). Really not worth it. Makes the "Leprechaun" series look like "Lonesome Dove".

In Response to Re: Your favorite cult movie?:
[QUOTE]Who did Lost Highway?  Quite bizzare, but intriguing.  Perhaps I was younger, but I got a good kick out of how the main character is answering the phone at the beginning, and the movie returned to the same scene at the end with him making the call.  Talking to yourself without knowing it is an odd play on Fugue's, and possible given that the plot slopped forwards and backwards through time.  Non-linear allright.

I think it was David Lynch.
