While I certainly wouldn't suggest anyone listen to Phil Collins if they could possibly avoid it, when I got to thinking about what some of these people seem to want, I couldn't help but flash on this lyric (from a song about something else entirely):

    Consideration for your fellow man
Would not hurt anybody, it sure fits in with my plan
Over the border, there lies the promised land
Where everything comes easy, you just hold out your hand

Proving that old Phil has some worth even to one of his non-fans.

How about quoting some lyrics from Bono?Laughing

Gods of War - Def Leppard

As for Morrison - sorry, I thought he was just a drunk who wrote half decent words which Ray & Robbie were able to put sublime music around.

No Protest Song thread is complete without Neil Innes' Protest Song.

Personally I think Jim Morrison wrote some pretty great lyrics.

"We Are Not Helpless" -- Stephen Stills

Zilla (and DD, too) have mentioned Stills many times; I've followed up and listened to some of his music, and really like it.   The song above -- gorgeous.  Lyrics are outstanding and very fitting for this thread.
