54th Grammy Awards nominations - your thoughts

Kanye West has seven nods, while Adele, Foo Fighters, and Bruno Mars all nabbed six. Some critics are complaining that Adele should have received more nominations, and Taylor Swift and West should have scored Album of the Year love. What do you think about how the nominations have shaped up?

The Grammy's are just as bad as the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Personally I could care less who wins what. Although the thought of Grohl going on stage to receive the grammy and reading about Courtney's soon thereafter explosion seems like good theater.

    Ugh.

Of all the useless, glad-handing awards ceremonies, the grammys are the useless-est....

Who the heck is Kanye West?

Can he play guitar like Leslie West?

I watched the AMA's last week which amounted to self inflicted torture. I'm not sure my system can take anymore game shows. Though, Adele does stand head and shoulders above the competition and should win out.

Of all the awards that hollywood gives to themselves, the single most useless has to be the grammy.

Look at a list of who never won, or who won well past their prime and you get an idea how little this award means.

They should give awards to the people who have to sit through it.

How about making it more like a contest...a "Battle Of The Bands"-type format...??

Have similarly genre-d artists square off in live performances, and the viewers/fans get to vote on who puts on the best show and has the best chops...

    Okay . . .   I'm just gonna say it:

I've heard of Kanye West (thank you, Matt and Trey) and Foo Fighters and Taylor Swift, but to be honest, I wouldn't recognize any of their music if you punched me in the face with it.

Yes, I know, all that means is that I'm old . . .   but couldn't it also possibly mean that almost nobody cares?

[QUOTE]I've heard of Kanye West, seeing as people feigned outrage after Obama called him a "jack*ss". Isn't he the rapper who thinks he speaks for a generation or something?

The Grammy's have become the MTV video awards.  Selling a show to a network using acts geared towards an urban and youth audience.  The rest of us tuned out many years ago.  I believe the exact moment for me was when Tull beat out Metallica for Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance Vocal or Instrumental.
