Bob Dylan favorite song survey on WUMB

After all the "favorite-style voting" we've been doing lately, I thought you might enjoy participating in the "What are your five favorite Bob Dylan songs?" survey on radio station WUMB. (note: WUMB is the gold standard for roots/blues/folk heritage music (and more) -- highly recommended).

NOTE: Voting on WUMB closed on May 20th.

They're taking input from listeners in celebration of Dylan's 70th birthday.

Here's the url to the website:
    http://www.wumb.org/home/index.php

    The survey has been removed.

The results will be played on 24 May, Bob Dylan's birthday, and I'll post the results here.  They'll be playing the top 70 songs on the 24th.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NOTE: If you want to log your top five Dylan songs below, please feel free to do so.  It would be interesting and fun to see how you voted.

One that really sticks out to me that I always loved was "It's Alright, Ma (I'm only bleeding"
Another fav is "forever young" and "I shall be released".  Like Slim said, hard to narrow to 5 so I'm not even going to try.  Too lazy tonight.

Wow, by my unofficial count that's 20 different songs (each one fantastic) that have already been mentioned for five spots. So, yeah, Bob wasn't half bad.

Wow...choosing just 5 is really tough...

Consider me temporarily stumped as I winnow my shortlist.

    To be continued...

I know.  I'm kind of blown away just seeing the songs we've listed thus far, not to mention the countless others.

Makes you realize Dylan really owns the musical version of Mount Rushmore. :D

I can't wait to see how the survey turns out on WUMB next week, I'll definitely post the list.   Wonder what song will be voted the number "1" fave, too.

And don't forget to actually vote on the WUMB website
(you can do it anonymously, and not end up on any email list  -- so check it out)

Stuck inside of Moble With the Memphis Blues Again

love your avatar lloyd; perhaps the greatest R'N'R record(s) ever, definitely in the top 5. also, the best double album of all time. apologies to BLONDE ON BLONDE and ELECTRIC LADYLAND.
album cover, as you probabably know, was derived from ELVIS' 1st album for RCA.

i agree, it's almost impossible to just do a top 5 for DYLAN, but he's not the only artist(s) in this same boat.
how about a top 5 for BEATLES, STONES, VAN THE MAN, KINKS, JOHNNY CASH,
    ZEPPELIN, and JOURNEY.
sorry, i was just kidding about JOURNEY, although they are the band i hate the most, all-time.

Apropos of nothing...it looks like "Don't Think Twice..." is the Zimmerman fan favorite so far.  Fascinating....

(Not to put too fine a point on it, but I really, REALLY enjoy this forum.)

    Have a great weekend!

I noticed the same thing, Matty, RE: "Don't think twice" ...

I was just so amused (in a good way) to see that WUMB was doing a "favorites" survey for Dylan because we've discussed faves vs. best vs greatest lists here recently, as well as off/on in many discussions.

I'll post next week and bump the thread so we can see how our songs stack up.

Yeah, the Music Forum is sort of the "Bob Dylan" of the BDC forums (and then some).   Agreed.

If I were to think about this for any length of time at all, I could never pick only five (a recurring theme), but scattershot off the top of my head:

    Watching the River Flow
    Queen Jane, Approximately
Lily, Rosemary and the Jack of Hearts
    Down in the Flood
    All Along the Watchtower
