    Brian Eno's latest album: "Lux"

Just wanted to mention that I saw (on a "best of 2012 list, matter of fact) that Brian Eno released an album in the final moments last year (November 2012).

First solo release since 2005, so it's been a while.   Seems to have been well-received, if not raves from fans and critics alike.

I don't own it ... yet, but it's worth checking out.   We were discussing ambient music, and Eno's collaboration with David Bowie (for one), in fact, in another thread, so Eno was fresh on my mind when I noticed "Lux".

Even if you're not on the market... it's good to know it's out there, just in case.   :)

"Lux is Eno’s first solo album in several years and his most entrancing recent work. While releasing an album of ambient music in 2012 is considerably less groundbreaking than it was in the 1970s, Lux is still unmistakably, quintessentially Eno. And sometimes being beautiful is reason enough."

Eno's work is legendary. He is also a popular answer on crossword puzzles.

I don't own any of his solo work, but I am very familiar with his contibutions to U2, Devo, Bowie, Talking Heads, Depeche Mode and of course, Roxy Music.

    Re: Brian Eno's latest album:

Yes, we were the three who were in the Bowie / Eno convo.

I did a thread on ambient music quite a while back, you probably don't remember, but I remember it well.   No thread would have been complete w/out including Brian Eno, and several people mentioned his pioneering music, which is still going strong.    I did look into some of it, but I didn't buy any at the time (I could have bought something pre-owned at Newbury Comics ... kicking myself ... not knowing they were planning to close the doors, I decided to wait).

Anyhow, I thought it was timely to discover Eno has a new solo album after a lengthy period of time.   He seems to be working steadily on other projects, just hadn't done a solo album.

I did get into "Another Green World" that you posted yesterday, DD; very nice.

In reference to David Bowie: Have to admit that after watching  Jimmy Fallon's, "Tebowie" last year, it's hard for me to block that out.

I came across an ad for this just-released album called Electrospective in Mojo magazine.  Quite the collection.

    Re: Brian Eno's latest album:

    Thanks, that is impressive.

See, now this is where all the categories dissolve.

In glancing at the names, it makes sense that they'd call this "Electrospective" --  many could be "swing" votes, you know, but overall, the list looks inspired.   I know many of the artists listed.    Right up my alley.   Note: The duo Air, that I mentioned in my other thread, has a track on this album.

My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts is also excellent.  The recent re-release/re-master is worth it.

Eno is also big influence on Air, one of my favorite ambient acts (as mentioned in the 'moon safari' thread).  Pocket Symphony is pretty awesome.

Paul Simon's 2006 album Surprise was a collaboration with Eno.  I've never heard it, but I'll bet it's interesting.
