They must be all named after items from the IHOP menu.

I'd have to say, I wouldn't order the lambsblood though....just because.

All kidding aside ( not really), I haven't heard of any of them either.

You've go to be joking, I mean really ....PUDDING PEOPLE!!!...someone really used that name...I find that hard to believe. What ever happened to interesting names like Boomtoown Rats, The Stranglers, The Wunderstuff?...I mean, The Waffles???...that's a real stupid name.

    Fictional?

    Nice going.   All fictional.

Now, for bonus points -- what's the source / origin for all of them?    You can prove it wasn't a wild guess if you get the bonus question.   :)

(Even if it was a wild guess, it was an excellent guess).

This is not a bad guess.  (If it were the Simpsons, I'm sure MrMojo would have known it straight away).

In fact, you're on the right track insofar as the source also being fictional.

    Nice work, buddy.  Cool

Spinal Tap.   There are about 25 ficticious bands mentioned in the film.

As for the Simpsons, they may have the most, or are very close in number with SNL.    I had no idea that either of those shows had a history of creating so many fictional bands (or band names).

    Bart calls Moe's Tavern...

    Ring, ring...Moe's Tavern..

Bart - Yes, I'm looking for Amanda Hugensqueeze

Moe...."I'm looking for A man da hug en squeeze!"

    Bart...laughs!

Great stuff! Say what you will about the Simpsons - but include original!

A lot of non-fictional bands have been on the Simpsons too - Bob Dylan Elvis Costello, Tom Petty, Green Day (in the Simpson's movie!) Mick Jagger, Katy Perry.......

With the recent passing of Roger Ebert and the topic here being "ficticous band's" here's one from the movie "Beyond The Valley of The Dolls"....."The Carrie Nations" an all girl band in the movie.

What does Roger Ebert have to do with the movie? He co-wrote the screenplay with Russ Meyer

"The Buttwhole Surfers" (clever mod avoidance there)?  One my favourite bands in the 80s. Terrible name, agreed.  But exciting, powerful, clever, non-standard Punk.  First and only time I saw them play was at the great, much-lamented Channel.  Everything I'd expected and hoped for was there....plus topless go go dancers*.

    * - I think strip clubs are the capital city of Loserville++....but when it's la joie de vivre, or accidental, or for a laugh I think it's great.

++ - If anyone wants to question "Loserville" (and that's solely in reference to the buyers)....go ahead...but my next question will be would you be happy about it if your mother, sister, wife, girlfriend, best female friend and daughter were doing it?  Or is it just ok if it's somebody else's daughter?

    Re: Common Ground?

Sonics, I think there is a major disconnect with guys who frequent strip joints. They view the girls as "objects" rather than real people with real lives and never stop to think that the woman is someone's sister, mother or even wife.

Loser is a good term for these people who only ever view women as sex objects and never understand what a real relationship is about.

Now that I am done ranting....there were quite a few bands from the Alternative era with strange but interesting names not involving pudding or waffles:

They Eat Their Own...( they might eat waffles and pudding too)

The Pop Will Eat Itself ( instead of waffles or pudding)

    An Emotional Fish

    The Dead Milkmen

    Eve's Plum

    Inspiral Carpets

    Kitchens Of Distinction

    Love Spit Love

Manic Street Preachers ( love that name!)

    The Mighty Lemon Drops

    Ned's Atomic Dustbin

    Redd Kross

    The Screaming Trees

    Stabbing Westward

    Toad The Wet Sprocket

    Too Much Joy

...those were the days of really weird, but cool names!

    I'd never ask a Simpson's question because you've blown your cover as a Simpson's trivia expert.   :)

One rock theme that I know is that Lisa is a vegetarian because of Paul and Linda McCartney; sweet story line.  Must have been a thrill back then to work with Paul McCartney on the story.  I know Paul was a fan of the Simpson's at the time.   I've never seen that episode, but I saw a more recent episode with an incident where Lisa was dealing with her vegetarianism.    Very cute.
