    I expect more from you, p-mike. :)

Clue: You're either going to know this one, or you're not.  No guessing is going to do you any good.   And that's no jive.

Off the top of my head I'd say they are all instrumentals.

As well you should . . .  I actually stole that joke from Cliff Claven.

Off the top of my head I'd say you're right.

'Coast to Coast' by the Scorps is wicked good...that's one of the songs on the Lovedrive album that Michael Schenker guested on to trade licks with his brother Rudy.  Now I have to listen to it when I get home.

Off the top of your head, you're right, Zilla.  ALL instrumentals.

I saw some lists of what were considered "best" instrumentals (best in the world, you know?), so other than Enya, that's a small portion of the list of some truly great instrumentals.

PS A Cliff Claven joke?  I confess, I wouldn't be able to quote Cliff Claven even if you offered me $$$$$ to do so ... and I can't say that upsets me too much.   :D

    Re: Common Ground?

Many of my favorite songs have no vocals.

Joe Satriani- 'Crush of Love' and 'Surfing With The Alien.'

Blackmore's Rainbow- 'Still I'm Sad' (instrumental remake of the Yardbirds classic...the live version does retain the vocals.

The Surfaris-Wipe Out ( after the laugh and the words "wipe out" , it is all intrumental and one of the BADDEST songs ever recorded.

    Duane Eddy- 'Peter Gunn Theme'

The Ventures- almost anything they ever did really rocks!

(Hank Marvin and) the Shadows- probably the best intrumental group of the early rock era.

The Champs-Tequila...well they do say "tequila" often but you can't really call it lyrics.

Of course, 'Coast to Coast' by the Scorpions ( mentioned before) was constantly on my turntable back in the late '70's.

Jeff Beck had a bunch of good ones. ELP has done some great ones, The Beatles 'Flying' has vocals, but not really lyrics.

So many more, I can't even begin to think of them all.
