You may or may not know Lowery, singer for Camper Van Beethoven and Cracker (on tour).  He's been teaching the economics of the music business at U.GA for a couple of years.  Here is his response to a young college/dj blogger re: the ethics of music:

Lowery's response is quite long, but well thought out and worth the read.  This is a true can-of-worms issue, and opening it is not my real intent, but it's certainly worth discussing seriously and logically without a lot of the knee-jerk-ism the topic can provoke.  We've proven the congeniality of this forum many times before though.
