Re: Great bands that never quite made it

We've discussed some of these before, so I'll keep it local:

Barry And The Remains - they could have given a few british bands serious runs for their money

Del Fuegos - victims of bad timing and/or MTV, they were really quite good.

Mission Of Burma - should have been huge; still one of the best punk/post-punk acts ever.

Others: The Replacements, Wire, Sebadoh, Pavement, ....

    If we're talking local

    Human Sexual Response
    The Atlantics
    New Man

Berlin Airlift's album was over produced, and this killed any hope of sales.

I love Big head Todd.  I'm kind of glad that they haven't made it big.  It makes it a lot easier to get tickets and it's more fun to see them in a place like the House of Blues than some arena.

Some men play baseball.  Some men play golf.  Some men play guitar.  Your band might not "quite make it" but that doesn't mean you'll ever put the guitar down.

And BTW, congrats on the semi-finals of the WBRU contest.  It must have some cachet if it's connected with WBRU.  Good luck. :)
