Both Roy and Rory are two of his heroes.

My son has been asking me where are the Claptons, Becks, Pages et al of today.

Here he is.  I know he's 30 something, but thats just fine

Thanks for the clip. I had seen this PBS special a while back and was blown away by this guy. To be honest, I had never heard of him before that.  Definitely going to check out more of his stuff. Reminds me a little of early Clapton on the playing side.

    You didn't step on anything.

Who's better than whom is subjective.  I don't care, I just enjoy and appreciate.

Blackmore is my favorite.  Still love Clapton, and don't bother with who's "better".

Ditto Bach v Mozart, and on and on...

In Response to Re: Guitar Monster:
Well, I certainly didn't intend tp get into specific rankings of who I think is "better"  because it would be silly, as you note. That's subjective. That aside, I would still defend the ability to make some objective comparisons. I mean, would you really reject my suggestion that Slash is "better" at playing the guitar than, say, drummer Charlie Watts? Than your average 6th grader? Than many other guitarists, even? Specific comparisons of "better" or "worse" between roughly comparable players may not make sense - ie, SRV vs Hendrix - but I think the above sort of comparisons aren't completely subjective. Either way I don't think I was trying to make that kind of comparison.

Well sure.  Hell, I'M a better guitar player than Charlie Watts.  Ditto 6 year olds.

No one cares though.  When you get to the level of the Vai's, Becks, Blackmores, Bonamassas is when I stop comparing, and simply identify. (sounds like an AA meeting)

Sloe Gin borrows a bit, but ok, pretty much everyone has taken from Led Zep over the years...
