    Last post today, I promise

    I sometimes read to my little daughter at bedtime, but I think we both prefer me to sing her to sleep.  The Top 10-ish?

    • Beatles "All My Loving"
    • X - "The New World" [I love that she knows all the lyrics]
    • Beatles "Her Majesty"
    • Roger Miller "King of the Road" (my daddy sang that to me when I were a lad)
    • Violent Femmes "Add It Up" (with reservations and edits)
    • Violent Femmes "Blister in the Sun" (with reservations and edits)
    • Violent Femmes "Prove My Love"
    • Beatles "Maggie May" (D'oh!)
    • Woody Guthrie "This Land is Your Land" (pure genius......our National Anthem is rubbish in both musical and ethical terms, IMO.  You wanna sing to your children about war, or about redwood forests andf gulf stream waters?)
    • {atonal nonsense about what we did that day}

    xx

    King Of The Road is just a timeless classic. I think almost everybody who has heard it a few dozen times know most of the lyrics.

    Blister On The Sun is one of those too, different era , though.

    I agree that 'This Land Is Your Land' would be a fantastic choice for our national anthem.
