My father used to tell me we were part Irish, but I don't know what part....I'm thinking it's my big toe on the left foot....furthest from the right side of my brain.
I'm not knocking the Irish, they brought us Thin Lizzy,U2 and Van Morrison , afterall.
Back in my teenage days, a friend of mine named Bill ( oddly enough a Harvard grad, who was a few years older than me) introduced me to an irish singer named Toby , who used to play at the Irish Pub in the New Bedford airport. We would drink black beer and listen to Irish folk songs. It was a lot of fun.
But that , and the song "The Unicorn" ( which Toby used to play) , is about the extent of my love for Irish music.
Never did understand why the Irish have a day on the America calendar which is a special day, while Italians, Portuguese, Cambodians, Chinese , French and many other nationalities don't....must be because it's another excuse to drink lots of beer ( New Year's, Superbowl, St. Patrick's Day, Easter, 4th of July, Thanksgiving, every Sunday that there is NASCAR or NFL football, Xmas)....better stop now, I feel another rant coming on!
