    Carnie,

Would you send us a warm breeze and a little sunshine from the Golden State?  Every time I see you on the forum, I get a little envious.

    Thanks.

I suppose it won't make a difference anyway.

No one I know of has ever come back and haunted the house of the people who didn't honor their wishes.

I'll go with "The End" by the Doors.

Gee, just about any of final songs from Doors albums would work.  "The End" "When the Music's Over" "The Soft Parade" "Riders on the Storm".

Or maybe the same one I've mentioned before: Five to One.

As for an epitaph, I'll go with Hunter S. Thompson - "Don't take any guff from those swine."

    2. "Heart Of Gold" - Neil Young
    1. "Ripple" - Grateful Dead

To be serious, I'd really have to give it some thought since I'm not around to hear it.

Of the top of my head, Mark Knopfler's instrumental "Going Home" (Theme from Local Hero) would be a good song. The slower version I've heard him do, not the version from the Alchemy album, which is a great version too but played a bit more up-tempo. I've heard him play it slow all the way through, and it is very moving played that way.

'Like A Stone' by Audioslave is a pretty cool song about being dead.

I'm hoping I get one of those New Orleans style funerals,  the coffin in a horse drawn Carriage, while a brass band plays a dirge on the way in.  And on the way out of course,  a raucous version of "My didn't He Ramble".

If I had to pick one song it would be Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Death is Not The End

    The Jam - Thats entertainment
    Morrissey - Sing your life
    The Smiths - Oscillate Wildly

Jim Croce - Time In A Bottle
    John Lennon - Beautiful Boy
Cat Stevens - Father & Son
    XTC - Dear God
    XTC - Mayor of Simpleton
    Doors - break on through
Traveling Wilburys - End Of The Line

motion picture soundtrack - radiohead...(of course, i know)

the part where the harps come in is magical.

also, the abbey road medley ending with that perfect lyric

"and in the end the love you take is equal to the love you make"

Matty, "Many Rivers To Cross". Beautiful song. It always moves me.

Carnie, ditto on "A Change Is Gonna Come".

    Nice choices.

As for me I can't decide yet. I'm torn between mournful and meaningful or just a song that I flat out love no matter its' mood.

    And Debussy's "Clare de Lune"

And a Neil Young song (I so totally love him)
