    RIP - Levon Helm

Another great talent has left us too soon.

I was lucky to see Levon at last year's Vibes festival...braving the 4th day of 95+ degrees in the shade to see a rock legend for the first time.  He sounded a bit rough, but his band was solid, and he soldiered on mightily.  I'll remember it fondly.

    R.I.P.

While his soul has moved on to that other realm, the music he has helped make with other Band members leaves behind is unforgettable, like this classic....

I have been listening to the Weight all day. One of the greatest songs ever. This hurts.

Sad to lose another member of The Band. I love that group and love the way their voices and instruments blended together to make such beautiful music. Here is a link to one of my favorite songs in which Levon took lead vocals, but it comes from The Basement Tapes and not an album with just The Band.

    "Yazoo Street Scandal"

RIP Levon, you'll be sorely missed. One of my favorites by the Band, written by Levon and Robbie Robertson.

    Sad day.

I highly recommend reading his bio.  A great read.  What a character, what a musician, what a life.  A real American gem.

    RIP Levon.
