RS' Top 10 Prog Rock Bands

I'm not sure if this list had been posted before, so apologies if it had.  I'm interested in any other lists one had come across about progressive rock, in particular...as well as any comments on this list.  (some of the captions are interesting, if puerile)

    1. Rush
    2. Pink Floyd
    3. Genesis
    4. Jethro Tull
    5. King Crimson
    6. Yes
    7. ELP
    8. Tool
    9. Mars Volta
    10. Dream Theater

IMO, this is a pretty good summation of the genre with a few acts (Zappa? Supertramp? Marillion?) perhaps rightfully on the bubble.  I could argue with the sequencing, but the overall logic seems ok.

    Comments?  Suggestions?  Migraines?

Oh wait, this is Rolling Stone Magazine.  The owners of the Rock and Roll Hall of shame that won't let any of these bands in. Nevermind

    Well said Greg.

Let's not forget Malmsteen and his guitar playing. Certainly progressive.

As Zilla said - lists s*ck, especially coming from Rolling Stone Magazine/

It may have been published in RS...

but (third time) the list is a readers' poll.

A cursory view at the comments shows many fans who are in on the bad joke.

In Response to Re: RS' Top 10 Prog Rock Bands : Looking at your icon jessey.  I saw Alice Cooper on TMS last night.  He got in the HOS, but he said he wants to be the first band to get thrown out. Love him

Alice was the first Large Poster on my wall when I finally got my own bedroom. I thought my old man was going to kill me.
