    SOTD - 5/9/12

Well, since no one posted a song of the day, here's my chance to tweak the forum. Here is a song by one of my favorite performers, Elvis Costello, that kind of touches on all the high minded discussion on art and intellectual music we've been having. Is this song pop? Is it classical? Does it make you think? Does it make you want to dance? Is it art? To me, it's a very catchy song and makes me want to sing along and move to it. But that's just me.

Something a bit different (I'm a huge fan of overdubbing):

[QUOTE]I'd describe that as an Elvis Costello song.  That's a compliment, the string quartet is a perfect accompaniment.  A lesser artist would have been lost in the mix. (Bono butchering Sinatra comes to my mind). In a similar vein - more pieces involved -  My Morning Jacket with the Boston Pops creates a song that's all them: http://youtu.be/a4HvIwhDRsM

I've just started getting into My Morning Jacket. Very good sound.
