Soundtrack of your life - This Maybe Stupid

During this past Mothers Day family reunion, a bunch of us were bullsh*ting about the past and all that cr*p. The following question arose; if they made a movie about your life from the ages of 15 - 30, what would the soundtrack be? The soundtrack had at least 15 songs and no more than 20.  We then read each of our lists to one another and the group decided nay or yea as to its reality based on what we knew of each others lives. And since we are a close family of over 25 first cousins, we know each other pretty well. The surpising thing is that there was not a single nay vote. I guess a soundtrack can really tell a story. If you are into it, I am interested in knowing your soundtrack. Remember, the songs themselves do not need to be from the time actual time period. Just what best captures what your life was.

    Here is what mine was:

Can You See The Real Me - The Who
    Rockaway Beach - The Ramones
    Violence - Mott The Hoople
Rats in the Cellar - Aerosmith
    Eighteen - Alice Cooper
    Star - David Bowie
    Trash - NY Dolls
High and Dry (Saturday Night) - Def Leppard
    Clampdown - The Clash
    Seventeen (She's Only) - Winger
Don't Tell Me You Love Me - Night Ranger
Girls, Girls, Girls - Motley Crue
    Wild Side - Motley Crue
    Drowse - Queen
Over The Edge - LA Guns
Fly To The Angels - Slaughter
    Every Picture Tells a Story
She Makes Me (stormtrooper in stilettoes) - Queen

I can think of one song that really means a lot to me in regard to finding the woman I married. It is Graham Parker's "Fools Gold". The song says it all.

I have one song that describes much of my life.

State of Confusion by the Kinks.

I'll get back to you on a full soundtrack later when I've had some time to be more accurate.

I'd hate to guess on this one , we are talking about my life here, not a silly "B" movie...or maybe it is?

    Just two songs:

    Flagpole Sitta by Harvey Danger
and then I'd just loop Rockerfeller Skank by Fatboy Slim over and over...because it's weird and makes no sense...like me.

I think Godzilla is considered a 'B' movie.

I don't know, I've never watched the whole thing. Japanese people who speak before their mouths actually move always scares the heck out of me.

When I was younger I loved watching those Japanese monster movies. There is a serious underlying message to the Godzilla movie as I believe Godzilla was created by atomic radiation. This fear of atomic radiation must have hung over the heads of the Japanese after WWII.

I came up with these songs and then decided I didn't want to think about it anymore.

    Growing Up -- Bruce Springsteen

Teach Your Children – Graham Nash

    Some Dreams – Steve Earle

I Wouldn’t Want to be Like You – Alan Parsons Project

    Empty Lives – Graham Parker

    Lucky Town – Bruce Springsteen

Into the Mystic – Van Morrison

    Winterwood – Don Maclean

This is an awesome thread idea, jessey.

jessey has a good handle on reality and starts many good topics.

I tend to live most of my life in fantasy. ( Maybe Blondie's 'I'm not living in the real world no more', should have been on my soundtrack, too?)

I like the fact that we are distracting him from discussions about Cheap Trick and the Yankees.

Even Lizard breath has to admit that this is one of the great Rock and Roll songs of all time. And when you played it for a chick, guaranteed you would be in heaven that night.

Well . . .  I have to admit I tend to side more with jessey than zilla on the Cheap Trick question. It is a historical fact that the song he posted did, in fact, make pants fall off. I know this to be true from my own experience. I also know that it was an inability to sell Cheap Trick tickets that brough Mike Damone "this close" to working at the 7-11 . . .  so you can take from that what you will. When Live at Budokan (sp?) came out, me and my friends wondered out loud what all the teenage japanese screaming was about, as it didn't seem likely that they could understand the lyrics. Of course, we were teenagers ourselves and no one was accusing us of being particularly bright. In any case, I just thought I'd mention again that I like the thread, even if the Yankees do s*ck.

Those words that many Sox fans use against your Yankees will never be used by me this week........or any other week for that matter. If the Yankees truly were as bad as Sox fans say they are then it wouldn't be so sweet when...oops, can't say that yet, one more day to go. Suffice to say the Yankees are an excellent team.

You are free to go ape-sh*t on my boys now. I have a feeling you had fun with this. Excellent.

Now back to Cheap Trick. I saw them at the Palladium back in the 70's. It was one of the best live shows I ever saw.

Maybe you had to see them live to fully appreciate Cheap Trick.

I went to a concert at UMass Dartmouth many years ago , the artist was a not so well known folk/rock singer in the James Taylor/Joni Mitchell style named Tom Rush.

Absolutley one of the best live shows I ever saw, the man was very entertaining and funny. He did a song "Making the Best of a Bad Situation" that , to my knowledge he never did in studio and it was unforgettable for me.
