The song title was taken from...

I am thinking of a specific song.

The title of the song in question, was taken from a *line* in a song by another artist.

Know what I mean?   Name the song.

Start your Monday off right.  :)

Assumedly, the song title in question is not in the chorus or refrain of the song...

...or else it would be too derivative...?  Also, must be different titles.  Hmmm...

I don't know why, but I first thought Sinatra's "I've got the world on string" and Neil Young's "World On A String".

(P.S. NY's "Borrowed Tune" also name- and melody-drops the Stones' "Lady Jane", but that's another issue.)

(P.P.S. This happens often in literature, btw; ergo, T.C. Boyle's story "Greasy Lake" and the "Greasy Lake" reference in Springsteen's "Spirit In The Night". [Damm...I am such a nerd.])

Actually, I thought you'd get this one.

Maybe when you wake up.  :D

BTW, I only found this out over the weekend, although not obscure, not as obvious as one might think, either.

Okay, the title line is part of the refrain, and therefore, said repeatedly.

I'm sure there are instances of this in other songs, as you mentioned a couple of good examples, and I should have said that upfront, despite the idea that I am asking for a specific one.

    Clues:

The song in question, that uses the line for a title, was a Number 1 hit in 1988.
The original song, that contains the line, was written in 1960; it was covered 15 years or so later, and also was a Number 1 hit.  I am certain that everyone here knows this song; it's a matter of thinking in terms of lyrics, because the title won't be of any help.

Okay, maybe this was just too obscure in terms of digging out lyrics.

Clue:  The song, covered in the 70's, that has the line you need, was sung by one of the Beatles.   Big hit for him.

I had written, "I'm sure MrMojo can get this one" -- (seriously) -- but I edited it out, b/c I didn't want to single you out.    I just had feeling.  :)

You put a lot of work into that answer;  THANKS.  Nice job.

Ringo's hit was "I'm Sixteen, You're Beautiful and You're Mine" (he covered the original).

In 'Sixteen' is the line "You walked out of my dreams and into my car" ---

Hence, Billy Ocean's hit song title in 1988.

Too confusing or what??  But it does equate. The glove fits (OOPS).  :P

I don't think "obscure" properly describe your question.

It's like that question in the movie "Christmas Story"

"What was te name of the Lone Ranger's nephews horse?"

    LOL

Oh, geez, you think this was obscure?    hahahaha.  I was making up for the dearth of trivia quizzes over the summer -- but went a bit overboard?

How do you explain MrMojo's success with the question?  He had no problem with it whatsoever.  :P

Anyhow, Rog, your response was priceless.   Thanks.  We now have a new benchmark for obscure; can you handle it?  :)
