What is the Greatest Rock and Roll Love Song

Paul sang - You'd think that people would have had enough of silly love songs
I look around me and I see it isn't so.

What is your favorite love songs during the Rock and Roll era?

Took myself a small vacation, kind of on investigation. Checking out a new sensation, finding much invigoration. Hand is on the buzzer and i'm walking through the door.

Get high - high - high  on a new thing.

Layla is a great one of course.

Something (Beatles/George) is one of the most beautiful.

Maybe I'm Amazed is one of my favorites by Paul.

I can't see any additions to this thread ; I can only see up through Matty's post.  ETA: After posting, I can now see what was formerly unviewable, at least for me.   OKay, as I was saying ...

    Anyhow, a pop standard:

I Will Always Love You - popularized by Whitney Houston, written by Dolly Parton, et al.

Also, I am becoming a fan of Richard Thompson.   See, Forum Magic.  :)   I heard a song of his on the radio last week, and was totally taken aback by it:

Persuasion - Richard Thompson   Not a traditional love song, by any means, but a killer of a song.

It didn't occur to me until later that Layla and Something are about the some woman.

Richard and son Teddy performed "Persuasion" at the concert I attended last year. It is a very beautiful song. Even though I'm a pretty big Richard Thompson fan, I don't have the song in my collection because it only appeared on a" best of" collection from his Capitol years. They do that on purpose to force hard core fans to buy "best ofs", those marketing rascals. Glad to see you are becoming a fan. He is an artist well worth exploring.

Sadly, it might be The Stranglers' "Golden Brown".
