Right on, Kar. Nice job. (sorry I didn't get back here sooner)
This was the year each of these songs hit the Top 40, even though many of them were hits before or after 1988 -- so close with 1989 and 1987. -

Really??? I wish I could say I figured out the clues in the songs, but honestly, I just guessed based on my memory of who was most popular on the radio the years I was in HS. I was a sophomore in 1988. :)
