    Workout music

Any interest in a workout music thread?

If so, then post your workout mix, would be interested to read what others listen to when working out.  I'm always looking for new music to add to mine.

    Re: Workout music

Stereo MCs is great for the treadmill...steady beat, but not too fast...good grooves, solid hooks.

AC/DC works at times, too...simple riffs, not much to think about, get-off-ur-a## type music.

I also like some more ambient stuff, no lyrics, more meditative-like...Brian Eno, trip hop, some new wave 12" singles....

I have a extended remix of Talk Talk's "It's My Life" that's a nice ten-minute jam for the bike.

    Re: Workout music

If music, something like AIC or Gn'R.

Though I've gotten into the habit of listening to audiobooks or audioplays (ie, audio-only versions of programs).

I don't listen to anything for running because I want to be able to sensible of what's going on around me. No good to stay in shape if I'm going to get myself run over.

"They" say that music, particularly faster/upbeat music, can result in an up to 15% performance boost, but I don't notice any difference. Same reps, same weights.

The Ramones first 2 albums have always worked for me while jogging. I also like using 80's new wave; A lot of Blondie, Jeopardy by Greg Kihn, Relax by Frankie Goes To HollyWood, Enola Gay and Electricity by OMD. You get the point.

You need to make a playlist consisting of power ballads ... songs like these:

    Remember, power ballads equals power.

I have a few slower ones, those are either at the front (warm up) or the end (cool down) of the mix.

Good call on Suffragette City, might add that.

    Re: Workout music

When I had an exercise bike at home I used to strap on the headphones and listen to high energy stuff like Guns N Roses and Scorpions.

If I was gonna pick a Bowie song to work out to it'd be Rebel Rebel - love that tune.

I hear ya. I used to listen to a few of their songs before my hockey games but I couldn't do a full album.
