Here's the announcement for the first ever winter music weekend sponsored by WUMB.
The SAMW is the Summer Acoustic Music Week, so for the first time, it looks like they are having a winter weekend version of this music camp.
Here are the details. You have to be able to "go with the flow" at this sort of thing re: the amenities. In any event, it looks pretty good.
WUMB- Winter Weekend
Guitar, banjo, mandolin, dulcimer, singer/songwriter
WUMB will host the first ever SAMW Winter Music Weekend on February 15-17, 2013, (Presidents Day Weekend), in Groton Massachusetts. This will be a "hands-on" New England acoustic music retreat. Come for camaraderie and classes, concerts and great guided and freestyle jams with world-class players and teachers, including Lui Collins, Susie Burke, David Surrette, Lorraine and Bennett Hammond, and John Doerschuk.
Lodging and six meals are included. Registration will open at 4:00 pm on Friday afternoon. Dinner is at 6:00 pm. We're due to leave the campus Sunday by 3:00 pm. Groton is about an hour northwest of downtown Boston. The camp is in a beautifully wooded area, and the facilities are comfortable. Most rooms are doubles. The bathrooms are shared. The food is hearty and the desserts are legendary. Walking between buildings is on fairly level ground, give or take possible snow banks! Oh-and there are several working fireplaces. Space is limited and we encourage you to sign up soon.
