Where do you get your favorite Bloody Mary in Boston and beyond? Do you have a favorite garnish? -

From my kitchen, since virtually no one seems to make it properly.
First, I have found that over the last decade, restaurants and bars around Boston alike have started watering down their drinks more and more. Things like Bloody Mary's are prime targets because the spiciness already masks the vodka (or lack thereof) taste.
Feel like you have to go to a place like Russel House or Morton's if you want an honest Manhattan, even - other places let it sit on ice too long before straining. Fills the glass but annoys the tongue.
That said, the best I've had away from home is at East Coast Grill, but only because you make it yourself. And I don't really like their food. It's OK. -

Greenland Cafe in Salem or I have to agree Russell House Tavern in Harvard Square has some really good options. One with lobster and one with bacon. A proper bloody mary is not complete w/o the stalk of celery. The hubby likes jalapeno slices muddled in the bottom of his "bloody." -

I've been enjoying the Sunday brunch at Abigail's recently and they make a delicious bloody mary with just the right kick.
It was so good I took a pic of it after the first sip. (they were giving out donuts last Sunday) -

East Coast Grill, AINEC. You can create a Bloody Mary that pairs perfectly with the food, which is great. Best brunch around.
Also, to the author: Sriracha is not Chinese. David Tran, a man of Chinese heritage who was born in Vietnam, developed it into its current form after he settled in the United States. It defies easy categorization. There's a nice NYT article from May 19, 2009, titled "A Chili Sauce to Crow About," that provides an overview of the sauce's history and current popularity:

Russell House offers several, nice bloodies, in addition to the bacon one that's mentioned.Surprised the Liberty Hotel's bloody mary bar was not in the slideshow. It's enormous, and fun to create your own. -

Duh! Sunday Brunch at the Ashmont Grill in Dot has AMAAAAAZING Bloodies. In addition to a great Sunday brunch, their "mixologist" Kirby has a regular assortment that includes a Wasabi Bloody. I am partial to their Spicy Bloody. In addition to their usual Bloody menu, they also have periodic Bloody Specials -- last time they had a Gazpacho Bloody that was out of this world, it tasted like a midsummer garden...with booze. But I'm sure I got a few vitamins out of it :) -

Beantown Pub on Tremont St. has a fabulous bloody mary and they won't come close to revealing the recipe. The Parker House martini is functionally a bloody mary garnished with fabulous shrimp and deserves some mention. -

No V-8 or tomato juice?? You missed the best part.
###############
I fill the 8 oz. glass with ice.
Add ONE (plenty) shot of vodka, which is tasteless anyway, We can have MORE than ONE Bloody Mary. What's the rush?
V-8 or tomato juice (homemade is great)
1 tsp. horseradish (optional)
Worcestershire Sauce to taste (yes, 3-6 shakes)
Lemon juice or dill pickle juice 1 tsp.
Tabasco 2-3 drops
Celery salt to cover the red(especially if you use plain tomato juice & NOT V-8)
Stir well.
Garnish with a celery stick/slice of dill pickle/skewered cooked shrimp
*NOW you made me WANT one! -
