Ditto the Wok in Wellesley. Nothing else near it and yet it's been there forever. Give it a try and you'll know why.

The Brookline Tab listed Golden Temple as having a health violation.
    Sounded filthy and disgusting.

China Blossom in Andover gets the nod for best food.  Best Mai-Tais have to be from Bali-Hai in Lynnfield.

The China Blossom is in North Andover, but yes, it's very good.

Tian Fu at  446 Washington Street in Wellesley.  Superb Shanghai cuisine, a smart, sophisticated yet casual decor and it is surprisingly inexpensive.  The owners, John and Li, are such warm and friendly people too.  Parking is easy and it's really a great find.

Tsang's Village on the south shore is great.

I would like to see more places to get authentic Chinese food, not Americanized (General Gau, fried rice, egg rolls, etc). There is nothing authentic about these dishes.

In Brighton, Joyful Garden.   http://www.joyfulgardenboston.com/ - really good Cantonese style similar to what you can get in San Francisco and NYC.  They do take out and delivery but I prefer to eat at the restaurant.  It tastes better.   It's an odd location; Soldiers Field Road as part of the Days Inn.  Try it!

too many to chose from in QUINCY.  Dine-in choices - try Great Chow on Beale, East Chinatown on Hancock, Mandarin King on Washington (near Fore River Rotary), Quincy Dynasty on Billings, Grand Chinatown on Billings, China Pearl on Quincy Ave. Best take-out - Peking Express on Hancock at Quincy Ave.

Aloha in Hingham and KoKo Island in Cohasset.
     Gone but not forgotten.
Is Ocean Kai still around in Quincy?

Btw, it's weird but the one of the best ive had was China Garden in Mattapoisett. I think the owners retired and it's gone now, not sure.
The farther you get from boston, the crappier the food. I should know, I live in Rhode Island now.

BY FAR, Kowloon!! in Saugus on Rt. one. If you grew up in Boston, this is the type of chinese food you grew up on! Exactly as it was 40 years ago. THE BEST and as it should be!

Are you guys..(The Globe) serious about this list?
because, with the exception of a few restaurants you mentioned this could be a "worst" chinese food in the Boston area list..

    Fuloon
    Best Little Restaurant
    Taiwan Cafe
    JoJo Taipei
...F'n Peach Farm (seriously..how could you skip Peach Farm for East Ocean City?)

and so many others...any list that seriously considers Kowloon and PF Changs some of the "best" chinese food in Boston is automatically without merit

Chinatown in Stoughton is the best around.   We'll fly 500 miles just to go to it.
