    RIP Annette Funicello

America's sweetheart passed away earlier today after a long battle with MS.

Funicello started her career early as part of the Mousketeers and gained popularity alongside Frankie Avalon in movies such as Beach Blanket Bingo.

Always a Disney girl at heart, Funicello titled her autobiography "A Dream is a Wish your Heart Makes".

She tried for many years to keep the details of her medical condition away from the public eye..but eventually was forced to reveal the private details when rumors and and mean spirited gossip began that her impairment was due to alcoholism.

Funicello was a definite role model for many young girls and will always be America's sweetheart. I hope she realized all the dreams that her heart ever wished for.

    Re: RIP Annette Funicello

Annette fought an unbelievable battle.  Truly a courageous woman.

I too grew up watching her and Frankie in the Beach Blanket Bingo movies...as a young girl I often thought that was what it would be like when you grow up.... but life didn't imitate art in quite the same way. That Beach Blanket Bingo crew had some wacky fun adventures.

    RIP Annettte.

I remember the Beach Party movies!

Deborah Walley was my favorite.     http://www.nytimes.com/2001/05/15/arts/deborah-walley-actress-57.html
