I like the new Tom Seleck series Blue Brothers very much so, but the Good Wife just turns me off because of the dark and gloomy way this series is presented. I mean could the Good Wife smile once and awhile instead of going around pouting all the time? Would it be to much to see her cough up a laugh or even a giggle every now and then. -

I loved all the AMC shows -- Breaking Bad, Mad Men, The Walking Dead, and the now-canceled Rubicon. AMC programming has been must-watch TV for me all year.
I still love HBO's True Blood, but I wasn't particularly fond of the third season. The decidedly dark-sided portrayal of all the major characters made it difficult to continue to like anyone in the series. I did, however, love Denis O'Hare as Russell Edgington, the power-mad Vampire King of Mississippi. His scenes alone made the season worth watching.
I've really enjoyed Comedy Central's The Benson Interruption. I was prepared for an onslaught of stupid stoner jokes from comedian Doug Benson and friends, but have been pleasantly surprised by the hilarious, unscripted comic moments elicited from the show's premise. The Episode 3 set by Paul Scheer (from FX's The League) was a series highlight. -

How was Sons of Anarchy left off the list? -

Fringe -- they did a great job keeping the central story moving while still peppering-in episodic mysteries to keep things fresh. In my opinion best drama on TV, PLUS, it has a sense of humor. -

30 Rock and Parks and Rec- those shows are terrible. Nothing on the three networks should be on this list. Boardwalk Empire was great as was Burn Notice. But nothing beats the NFL which dominated TV this year and will do so in the future. -

On the list love both Modern Family and Boardwalk Empire, and the honorable mention list - Terriers...great show! Unfortunately it is so great no one was watching and apparently it is toast. Michael Scott's last season of The Office has been good, but much like other shows the final season is not always up to snuff. -

Seriously, no offense to the kid, but Manny is the worst part of Modern Family. I cringe at his canned lines. -

I'd take Parks and Rec and replace with my laugh-out-loud guilty pleasure: Bored to Death. -

No love for Burn Notice? Or White Collar? Or Psych? Or any USA product?
I honestly think they have the best shows on TV since they care more about character development than splashy effects or big name stars. All make humor a priority alongside the serious or dramatic. -

I can honestly say I've never seen a single minute of any of the shows listed.
24
Sons of Anarchy
House
Archer
...the only shows I watch, so I guess they're the best, to me. -

How can he not mention "The Walking Dead" in this discussion? Its a phenomenal show with great writing, cinematic aspirations, and a talented cast. Granted, I'm a zombie buff, but I find it fascinating that the things that stick with me from the show have little to do with zombies. -

Matt,
I couldn't agree with you more re: Mad Men and The Suitcase episode. In fact three consecutive episodes: The Chrysanthemum and the Sword, Waldorf Stories and The Suitcase were three of the most amazing, creative hours I have ever seen on tv. I wanted to go out on the street and drag strangers into my home to watch. -

I've never watched anything on the list. Then again, I seldom watch tv, I only have basic cable and the commercialism is one reason I seldom watch.

Hi Matt:
I have never seen you mention the SyFy series Caprica. It is a really outstanding show. Have you not seen it or do you disagree? -
