    Non-responsive Hamster

I have a pet hamster that was a gift for my son. We picked up the Hamster in May. Normally the hamster (Phyl) is very active. However last night I noticed he was curled up in a ball and not responsive. I went to pet him to make sure he was still alive and he twitched, and I can see he is still breathing, but when I put fresh food in his cage, which he normally jumps at, he didnt budge.

Any thoughts or experiences with this?

I wish I could help but never had a hamster, but in the meantime, I would call your vet.  Sounds like something is not right...  good luck and keep us updated.

hamsters can get colds, so I'd check to see if his nose and eyes look clear, no discharge or crustiness.

if he's still acting starnge tonight, I'd bring him to the vet.

Thank you! Seems he was hibernating!

Woke him up and he is back to normal :)
