    Rhys Bowen: Her Royal Spyness

    Rhys Bowen: Cosntable Evans

    Nancy Atherton: Aunt Dimity

    M.C. Beaton: Hamish MacBeth

    Alexander McCall Smith: Isabel Dalgleish

    Re: British Mystery Series

I am going back to reading some classic authors whom I missed: Margery Allingham and Ngaio Marsh.  I am really enjoying them!  They are in the 'great British female mystery writers of the 20th c." category with Dorothy Sayers and Agatha Christie!

    Re: British Mystery Series

I've just read some books by Elizabeth J. Duncan about Wales, which I liked.  They reminded me of Rhys Bowen's "Evans..." series which I loved even more.

    Re: British Mystery Series

Just read the thrid in Frances Brody's series about Kate Shackleton; reminds me of Maisie Dobbs.  "Murder in the Afternoon" is the title - it's set in the 1920s.

Also reminds me of an American series about New York City at an earlier period - the Gaslight series - Murder on Astor Place, Washington Square, etc. by Victoria Thompson.
