    Re: April 2014

Hello, I haven't been able to post until today. I was getting no box to post. I haven't read all the comments yet, but it appears everyone had a lovely Easter. We have a great time at the Murder Mystery, though neither of us solved it. We didn't win anything at Foxwoods, but we had a fun time. I'll cathc up on the posts.

Winter, so glad to see you back.  Crazy boards.  We're all having different  problems with them.

Winter, glad you had a good time at the murder mystery weekend!

They seem to be fixing features on different browsers/platforms one at a time.  I had the no post box thing on Firefox but it got fixed before yours did....

I tried Mercury and Safari, too; no luck there, either.

I've been scanning Google to find my URL on my photo section of my computer, but I don't have any of the little icons on that section they showed, and she moved on too fast.  It asks for source now, but I imagine the URL is what they still want.  I  tried to copy and paste even using the shortcut keys, but that doesn't work either.

    Re: April 2014

    Good morning,

Thanks, Hats, for sending that link.  How pretty and delicate that wreath is.  I don't know if I have anything, in fact I know, I don't have anything near as pretty as those flowers, mine was probably from the 70's, since the color theme seems to be orange, gold and brown!  No wonder the wallpaper stores tossed the books!  I do think there is one left upstairs, the others being tossed by me over the years.  Gives me a thought or two tho for future crafting.

Just took the trash out, seems nice, my plan was to shower and dress and get to the store ASAP before either son would be stopping by.  I put the scones in the oven for another 5 minutes - I think they seemed a little too moist for me, probably with the additional milk/butter I added, I should have left off brushing the tops with buttermilk.  Anyway, tried to dry them out a bit before sending them along when son drops off the magazines.

Nice not to have the wind howling this morning.  Checking my front lawn to see if any of the grass seed I scattered took, I think it probably needed to be raked/pressed in, but can't do any harm and a few blades might come up.

Can't let myself sit here too long, have a couple of emails to read and I'll give myself 2 games of MahJong, but then I've got to get dressed and out.  Friday at last, for you who are working.  Hope everyone has a good week-end.  DIL called last night to see what I would like to do for Mother's Day - -?? Can't believe when she told me it is in a couple of weeks.  Too many birthday/anniversaries/holidays all of a sudden.  I need a money rest.  3 birthday and an anniversary gift within the next week and a half.  HELP - -

Boy does this get harder, or is it me?  Why on earth do people change things that are working??  Haven't they heard the saying, if it ain't broke, don't fix it!!  I went to Foxwoods yesterday and came home with NO money at all....boy was that place crowded....could hardly find a machine to play.  Someone said it was because of no school and parents could go to the casino, don't make sense to me, who minds the kids??   Spring is springing everywhere, so much greenery and flowers are all  looking so good....so glad winter (I ho;e) has finally left the area and won't be back for awhile.....take care all and enjoy the warmer weather.  ss

Last day of vacation for me, then real life begins again.  I've gotten a good amount of 'stuff' done this week so I am happy.  Actually pasted vacation memorabilia from 2002/3/4 into a scrapbook yesterday!  Got to finish cleaning house and deck, then shop today.

TT, sorry that you have so many gift giving occasions coming up- I know you are a little short after the dentist bill  - are any of them people to whom you could give treasured family stuff that might be up in the attic now? Or something home made or plants/flowers/bulbs which are cheap right now?

Orange, gold and brown flowers would make a nice fall wreath...

    Good morning,

You are smart to get out today, tt. The weekend is not going to be good. Neither is next week. How did your scones turn out after you dried them out? I would never have thought of putting them back in the oven. Hope you get some green pages today.

What a pretty wallpaper wreath, Hats.

Had fun shopping with DS yesterday. But the howling wind was something else. Fortunate for me, I had a chauffeur, so I didn't have to carry the shopping bags across the windblown parking lot. DS filled two bags at TJ's with "stuff" to take to UK. When I asked him, where he is going to pack it all, he told me,"Well, you are going too, Mom!" So I guess, I need our large suitcase. I like to travel light, and was planning to bring a small one.

At Whole Foods, DS eyed the artichokes. So we had artichokes for dinner again last night. They were huge. I bought 4 for the 3 of us, and we couldn't finish the last one.

Have a good day. Chat later.

Good morning everyone. Smart to get right out, you never know how the weather could turn. At this very moment National Grid is installing our gas line. Plumber is expected May 5th to start the conversion process. We have a 1/4 tank of oil left so that will be perfect. I think DH is (finally) going to paint our bedroom while they are doing the install. DS has a soccer game tomorrow and he'll be doing trials for the science fair project that is due the 5th.

    Re: April 2014

What a glorious day.  Just staggered back in loaded down with groceries.  Been a while since I've done a really extensive shopping, so just because I know I'm short of money - I spent more than usual - as if to say, "See?  I can spend whatever I want!"

Baskets and scones/krispies are still here, so neither son has been by yet.  Hoping GD does not want to come over this afternoon, I can barely move and plan on taking one of those ibuprofen and visualizing that working its magic.

Picked up lots of little goodies like already chopped peppers, watermelon and fruit pkg, MUSHROOMS I finalky remembered to get, Stacey's pita chips, and some deli turkey and cheese so I can make a melted turkey/cheese sandwich for lunch.

Better get up and put things away.  BTW, S&S was loaded with shoppers.

    Re: April 2014

Delicious lunch, added a few slices  of baby cuke for crunch, between the cheese and turkey, got that cheese slightly burned - perfect.  A couple of pita chips and diet pepsi, and then my ibuprofen and I'm set for the afternoon.  Added perfection would be a bag of mags to flip through.

Cheerio has investigated the open windows and now followed me in here and settled down on the guest bed.  She had a little cheese and a few pieces of kibble, so she's all set for whatever the afternoon may bring.

Nanny friend called and said she is going to Bermuda.  I'm sooo glad for her.  I don't think she has ever been on an away vacation besides N.E., and this will be so good to get away from the responsibilities she has here.  She and her sister are very close and I know the two of them will investigate every inch of the island.  If she gets a chance to get up before going, I'll show the pics I took - probably 20 years ago.  As you told me, Hats, I know it's built up a lot now, but I don't know which side of the island they are staying on, an apt. in a house, is the way she described it.  I said I imagined there had been a lot of growth since I went, but never went any further, don't want to take away one bit of her excitement of the planned trip.  It's nice to see good things happen for good people.

    Re: April 2014

Hi TT, I'm here but have been doing furniture painting, dusting, vacuuming, etc.  Just sat down for 1/2 a hammy sammy and some sweet pepper sticks.  Still have quite a lot to do, but trusting that DH will take me out tonight for our usual Friday supper and walk.  He's been so sick that we haven't done for the last 2 Fridays.

Also a neighbor gave me some slate and fieldstone pieces so I am planning what I can do with them/how I can paint them.  Acrylics are the paint of choice which is good because I have a lot of those.  Washed and disinfected them and put them to dry.  Also sprayed a couple of chalk and pastel drawings with fixative because it's a good day to spray outside.

Need more tea.  Still have 2.5 rooms to do but the bedrooms will go more quickly.  Dusted them two days ago.

Will check in when I'm done and showered! Working in sweats and no bra!

Yes went to lunch and then I had a conference call. Lunch was chicken and rice soup and a piece of french bread. The soup was loaded with veggies and very good.
