Prin, Mob Wives on at 8:00 and then again at 10:00. Will watch the 10:00 because I love Once Upon a Time at 8:00. Can't wait for Mob Wives though. Renee finds out her husband wore a wire on her Dad and he is in Witness Protection program. Can't imagine the drama...

    Re: April chat

amber, your post is not depressing at all.  Just a poignant reminder of the passing of time. This is something that many of us have faced here.  Believe me we understand. It brought tears to my eyes and I know just how you feel.

bg, I, too, was so happy to see your post today.  We have asked about you many times, always hoping you'd come back at some point. I know you've lost loved ones lately and I hope and pray the road is getting easier for you.  How is Stitches?

kar, that was certainly a scare. If only our faithful friends could talk to us and let us know what's going on.  You couldn't take better care of Gracie.  She's a beautiful dog and so lucky to have you and DH to share her canine life!

winter, I always liked the revolving stage, too.  I think they stopped doing that awhile ago.  My SIL and her nieces  went to this production and loved it.  I think my SIL has been a dozen times over the years.

pingo, mind your back and be careful.  During the winter some small branches fell off my pine and landed on the garage roof.  There were a lot of pinecones in the gutters, too.  I got out the ladder and climbed up to rake/sweep the branches off as best I could.  The gutters were easy to clear.  Point is, my lower back hurt me for several days.  Now, I find that when I'm preparing a holiday dinner and standing for long periods of time, my lower back hurts.  And then there's my right foot which is giving me a great deal of grief again.  I have an appointment at the Baptist Hosp. Joint Institute in two weeks. Sorry to rant, but I feel I'm falling apart at the seams.

tt has thrown down the gauntlet by mentioning beef stroganoff.  Nothing like it on a bed of Pennsylvania Dutch egg noodles!  I'm on the trail!

Anyway, in spite of sleeping four hours last night, I was up at 7:30 and at our appointed breakfast spot with my father at 9:00AM.  Had a great time.  Wonderful interaction with the owners and people we see there often.  We never get out in under two hours, especially if the kids are with us.  Then we went back to my father's for early Easter baskets and cards for the girls.  On my way home, I stopped at Mahoney's and picked up three Easter lilies and three pots of pansies. The pansies will go to the cemetery.  The lilies stay with me.

Thankfully, I feel very tired and will be off to bed in a jiffy.  It's after midnight, so I wish all of you a very Happy Monday.

P.S.  Not one person (even my GD's) played an April Fool's joke on me today!  My mother was a master of April Fool's jokes and got us all the time.  She was good.

    Re: April chat

    Good morning,

Hate to see you having insomnia, Mothermitzi, but love getting up finding a long post from you -

I don't think the kids these days even know about April Fools jokes.  My family was big on them, my father, in particular, and as I said, up until a  few years ago, I would always call the boys and play one.  That's gone by the wayside, as have other things I "used" to do.

In regards to your foot, mm, have you thought of a podiatrist ?  I had pain on top of my foot (got cortisone shots with no relief), and then pain on the bottom, and after going to a podiatrist and following  her basic instruction of getting a shoe with a 1/2 inch higher heel than than the toe (she said my expensive sneakers weren't correct), I tried and loved SAS shoes.  She put a small horseshoe wedge under sole in each one and between that and the instant comfort I felt when I slipped on the shoe in the store, I've never had that debilitating pain in the top/side and no problems with my feet at all since.  I really think they have helped my back enormously too.  I remember your speaking of going to a doctor before for your foot, and I'm not suggesting that you don't follow through with medical care, just suggesting that finding a shoe that has the padding and arch support may give you some comfort at least.  I picked a white pair with Velcro because they were the ones that I felt looked less henny, and more like a regular sneaker.  Remember I posted a pic of the sandals I bought there too, for the wedding last Spring.

Your early Easter celebration sounds wonderful.  I'm thinking I may go to youngest son's house to deliver baskets Friday - kids will be off of school, and I don't think I will  have time to get there Sunday morning with getting dinner ready.  Would be nice if they would stop over here, but I don't think that would happen.  They are generous with gifts, but selfish with time and if you want to see them, you go there.

Cheerio has had her ff, but can't understand why she's had no kibble to gnaw on, so I'll be out somewhere this morning picking up a bag of that.  I did check out Amazon, Pingo, and it is cheaper there, but I think you have to be a $50 member to get the free shipping, and I wouldn't  order enough things from there to make that worthwhile.  I'm an "in my hand" shopper.

Amber, hope you got a good night's sleep last night.  As soon as my head hits the pillow I start thinking of all the things I have to make decisions on, a new roof, new front stairs - the list goes on and on.  I have a manta I say over and over and drop right off to sleep.  Do the same during the night if I wake up, sometimes it works then, sometimes not.

Breakfast awaits and an early outing, I hope. Winter, how did the nail clipping go?  I'll check in later.

    Good morning ladies,

I did sleep good. I took the Tylenol PM with a glass of milk and watched TV in my bedroom.  I watched Once Upon a Time but was asleep by 10:00, so missed Mob Wives Prin.  I'm sure they will repeat it this week.  I can just imagine what Renee was like...  Thank you all for your well wishes for Amber and mm, you are right, it is a part of life but still so dificult.  Intellectually I get it, but my heart doesn't.  So happy this is a short week.  Looking forward to 4 days off.  tt, I believe you get free shipping with Amazon if you spend $25 or more.  I don't have the yearly $70 subscription since I don't order all the time, but if I know I need something for $25 or more, I def order from them.  Never had an issue. It was nice to see BG on here yesterday. I hope she checks in once in a while.  Kar, how is Gracie?

Amber, forgot to mention in other post - I watched Mob Wives last night for the first time!  OMG are they real women?  Some of them look as tho they're in drag, and their "almost" clothing - I cannot believe all "mob wives" are that caliber, are they?  We have an acquaintance who we wonder, jokingly we think, has mob connections, and he and his wife are so very different both in their actions, and their appearances.  Where is this supposed to take place - NY?  NJ?

tt, they are real mob wives or daughters of mob men.  It is in NY I believe.  One of them, Renee, her exhusband wore a wire and got her father arrested. In return instead of going to jail, he is in the witness protection program.  It was weird reading it in the news and knowing that it hadn't played out yet on the show.  Last night was her finding out about it.  Crazy huh?

Good morning all.  Have to skip over the Mob Wives talk, as I DVR'd it and won't get to watch it until tonight, lol.

Busy day at work, as I have to catch up from being out on Friday (although I did do a lot of work over the weekend, boo).

Well, I mentioned the ice maker went in my fridge.  DH and I are now debating just getting all new appliances.  My appliances (except for the dishwasher) are about 17 years old, and white.  The rest of the kitchen has been totally renovated with cherry cabinets and granite, and we think we should get stainless appliances for resale value.  We'll see.

My last appliances were 21 or 22 years old, Princess, and when I replaced them was told, "Don't expect these to last that long".  I would go with replacing them all now if they're all about the same age.  Better than going through the hassle separately a few months apart for each one.

ETA:  I know both of you dvr the episodes and tried not to give away too much.

Decided I would take a closer look on Amazon and order the ff.  I never was good at figures, and when I checked their price again with a calculator, it's the same as in the stores - no savings.  So, off I go, just won't buy the 2 cases as I usually do.  There's bound to be a real "sale" in the next few weeks.

    Good morning,
So sorry to hear about Amber's seizures. It must be so difficult for you Amber. Like you said, your head understand, but your heart doesn't. Hope little Amber, will be with you, when the time comes. Nice that your DD and her BF will spent Easter with you.
mm, I can only second tt's suggestion of trying the SAS shoes. I picked up a pair, when we last went to San Antonio (SAS = San Antonio Shoes). Went to their flag store. Oh my, lots to choose from. They feel like slippers. Best pair I ever owned. Me feet used to get tired and burning at the end of the day. Not with these. I am going to get another pair and some sandals for the summer.
tt, re Amazon's FF - I checked and I thought they said "always free shipping". I do have the Prime - by invitation of our son - and it has come in so very handy. It was especially great this Christmas, where I would have spent a fortune sending all the gifts to SA. Amber is correct. If you spend over $25 - it is usually free as well, as long as it is shipped by Amazon. Sometimes the items come directly from the vendor; they will charge a shipping fee.
Princess, you are smart to get all new appliances for resale value. The going thing right now is stainless. I understand, you now can get stainless, that is treated, so you don't see fingerprints, which used to be a big pain. We are considering changing our appliances too. It will be a big chunk of money, but it will sell the house faster. Or so the realtors say. We need to down size - too big a house for us. We are not in a rush, but we have had a couple of realtors looking at it, just to feel the waters.
On my way to my treatment. Will have her look at my back. It is much better this morning, but still sore. I know, I used muscles over the weekend, that were dormant. Stretching and bending odd ways.
Have a good day - Pingo

    tt and pingo -

Thanks very much for the tips.  I checked out the SAS shoes and will ask when I go to this foot specialist.  Last time I went, he told me my arches are ok.  The pain has moved around and is now on the top of my right foot.  I've been diligent about doing the exercises he prescribed and icing it at night but I'm still having trouble and am ready to take the next step whether it's new shoes or orthotics - whatever - just want to able to walk comfortably again, especially if I'll be travelling this summer.

In the meantime, I have a busy day here which means soup for lunch from the little restaurant in the lobby.  Have a great day everybody!

    Good morning, all,

Skipped TJs this morning to get back to a housebound Gracie sooner.  'Course, she was fine and I could have gone.  Oh, well.

Thanks for her continued well wishes; she's barely favoring it today, and maybe I wouldn't even notice if I weren't looking intently for any limp.  mm, thanks - we do try to be the best caretakers of her we can be.  Good thing, too, since she's so accident prone!

mm, add my endorsement for SAS shoes - I hope they help you as much as everyone else we know who use them.

Prin, 17 year old appliances?  Oh, yeah, the ice maker is the tip of the...wait for it...iceberg. ;)  No, really, it's time.  What would be the savings of eeking out another year with what you have?  I don't think it would be much, and especially with a dishwasher you are risking a big mess when it dies.

I'm one to talk.  The washer is acting up, again, and DH has promised to give one possible fix a try before we replace it.  I'd like to skip that, but he insists it will give us many more fuss free years with it.  We'll see.

    Re: April chat

Not to repeat myself, mm, but at the time I went to the podiatrist she also recommended Dr. Scholls orthotic inserts first.  I did try them but got no relief, and they stood by their money back guarantee - just save the plastic case they come in and your slip.  There was a sticker on the back of the case and just that plus your sales slip get you a full refund from the company, with no problem at all.  My arches were alright, just my stance from my back problems put pressure on the wrong parts of my feet.
