My post went away.  It had misspellings in it.  The font was bigger too.  They must have been testing.  Sigh.  They are using spell check instead of a banned word list.  Smart, not.

    Good evening,
No, the font is not larger - at least not this post. And I couldn't post from work. There was no "add your post". And I was dying post this video. Dump cake anyone?

    Re: August 2012

    Good morning,

Held my breath because I had to login again this morning, BUT it recognized me right away, so I guess I'm back to using IE on Chat instead of Chrome.

Expected to get up to the humidity this morning, instead there's a beautiful breeze, and I'm actually a lilttle chilly without my robe.  Haven't caught the TV weather yet, NECN is in Gloucester this morning.  They're all in bermudas and sleeveless, and I don't see any goosebumps.  Isn't it funny how quickly one day we turn the corner and it's Fall?

Haven't heard from Obbie in a few days and am wondering if she's not able to login.  Hope she'll keep on trying.  Can't understand why we haven't heard from Amber.  Hats, hope you're having better luck with the new system this morning.

Signs of the start up of sschool, about a dozen girls jogging by - must be the track team - could hear them talking and laughing before I saw them - that will all change as they get down to serious jogging in the season.

I know there'll be no visit from pumpkin today, so hope it does stay cool so I can get some serious cleaning done.  You girls have me lallygagging on these boards for the better parts of the day!  Chat, bake, and eat, that's pretty much what I do!  No errands that have to be done this morning, have done most of my phone talking already this week - no excuses not to move a dustmop and dust cloth around here.  Hope you're all able to login this morning.

Morning all, Only had to log in twice today before I could post.  Went to Foxwoods yesterday, no wins.  Had fun tho, altho I think if I go again (and I probably will) I will only play Bingo, then will get a cuppa and read a book till its time for the bus to leave.  Walking around the Casino just about does me in, even wearing my oxygen.  Gonna be a hot one today.
Hats:  Your mention of dump cakes brought back lots of memories when I was a Scout leader and would be a councilor at day camp every summer....Oh the fun we had.  Take care all and have a good holiday weekend. ss

I'm trying to keep a process logged in all day so that I don't have to go through the login process all day long.

Dump cakes, foil packet dinners, smores - camp food is great at home too!  Have you ever cooked sliced potatoes with butter, salt, pepper and rosemary in a foil packet on your grille?  Heaven!

First sheet of cookies is in the oven.  Still cool here, decided to get them baked today and just leave the whoopie pies until tomorrow.  They're time consuming to make.

Good morning, Icer.  Glad to see you got your avatar back.

    Re: August 2012

    Good morning everyone,
Glad to see most of you are still able to post. Except for not being able to post from my office (maybe just as well), I haven't really encountered any big problems. Annoying things? Yes. Like the tiny font, which looks like it has been corrected already. And of course the no edit, delete and the spell check. Hopefully they will show up eventually.
Supposed to be over 90 today, but lower 60 tonight, so that is fine with me. I don't mind a warm day in between, as long as I can sleep at night with an open window.
Winter and Princess are off today, so we may not hear from them. Hope Winter's son slept well in his nice new bed.
Kar is busy canning with her mother today, so she will most likely not have time to chat. Hope to hear from mm and Tulips, so we at least know, they didn't get lost in the BDC shuffle.
I am worried about Obbie and Amber. Amber especially. We haven't heard from her daughter, so that is good news. But I hope no complications has taken place. My BIL had a valve replacement, and he was up and about and could - with caution - do all his normal activities  in less than two weeks.
Going to a cook out Sunday. I was making a list of people to invite here, when my dear DH told me we were going out. He had forgotten to tell me about a phone message left, while we were away. Planning to bring my Graham Cracker Cookies. My friend is a chocoholic. Just checked, and I am out of "crystal" plates. Need to go and get some. Will pick them up from the Job Lot, when we pick up bird seeds tmw.
Those little creatures is eating me out of the house; but I love them. Haven't seen the squirrel near the bird feeder, since I put up the "Squirrel Chaser". However, he has had a feast on one of my plants. I brought back a couple of cuttings from a cactus plant from DS's Long Beach apartment. They were growing wild on the beach. I always put it outside during the summer. But this year Mr. Squirrel desided, those leaves were yummy and ate them all off. The stems are still there, and tiny leaves are emerging, so there is hope it will come back. But now it is inside.
You all have a great long weekend. Except for Sunday, we have no big plans, so I will be on and off here. Hope I won't be the lone ranger. - Pingo

    Re: August 2012

Kargiver, I know you will most likely not be on the boards while your parents are visiting, but reorganizing my recipe files came across a very old recipe someone had given my husband after we raved about a jar of relish they had given him.  I never made it myself, having 4 young rambuncious boys at the time, but I do remember it was good.  Sugar, I know you would substitute something else for, but if you're having an abundance of peppers and perhaps onions, might be worth a try.  Have no idea how much this recipe makes.  By looking at the amounts, you as an experienced canner now, probably would.  She says no mention of the "canning" process, if there is one, or if she just jarred and refrigerated it.

    Original recipe:
12 sweet peppers (seeded and chopped)
12 hot peppers (seeded and chopped)
12 good size onions (peeled and chopped or put through grinder)

(she has a note that for their taste preference, she instead used all hot peppers, changing to:  18 hot peppers and 18 onions)

Cover with boiling water and drain.

    Mix 3 cups vinegar
    2 1/2 cups sugar
    2 teaspoons salt

Stir until sugar melts and then add to peppers and onions and simmer.
She notes that her recipe said to simmer for 15 minutes, but she thought that was too long and simmered a shorter period of time, judging by crunchiness.

No further instructions on the sheet, but just thought I would put it out for you if you might be looking for a way to use abundance.  Didn't post on the recipe thread, because it's not a recipe I have actually tried making myself.  You're an experienced enough cook to make any changes/substitutions you would feel necessary.  Reading it now, my mouth is salivating.  Might just give it a try, knowing 2 of my sons would enjoy it.  I'll keep my eyes open for end of the season buys on the peppers and onions.

Guess what? My last post disappeared! Just like that. Puff!

So here I go again. I wanted to thank you for that relish recipe, tt. It came in really handy. I brought back a box of homegrown hot peppers from TX. Couldn't decide what to do with them. I already have a couple of jars of pickled hot peppers from the last batch, I brought home. DH will love the relish. Thanks! - Pingo

Now, let's see if this one post and stay posted.

This is my third and shortest attempt at posting; bdc won't let me saying that there's a banned word that isn't.  Nothing is misspelled, either.  Things are going well here, and I hope the same for all of you.  Tt, thanks for the relish recipe, will definitely try it and post how it went which I'm sure will be delish.  Ok, trying again...

I think he really has amnesia.  Probably fell off his horse and hitched down to where he is now.  It will be interesting now that Billy has found both of them.  Is Sharon hoarding things again in that box?  The other day it showed her opening it and putting Jack's son's license in there.  I couldn't make out what else was in there.  What was it she took out of the girl's pocketbook today?  Looked like a couple of tickets to me.

Well, it's been a beautiful day here.  Great breeze still coming in - let me get the cookies baked, and bathroom and living room cleaned.  A beautiful last day of summer type.  Not much chatter going on the board this afternoon, so will wish you all a good long week-end.

Ohhhh Amnesia...that makes sense. Sharon pulled 2 concert tickets out of Summer's purse...Why???? I don't know. I do remember they made her a cleptomaniac at one point...perhaps they are regurgitating

kar, do you know what word the filter was saying was prohibited? The bad words filter is acting funky and we're trying to fix it.

We have a request in for the bad word to be highlighted, by the way. Frustrating that you're not told what the word is.

Earlier, somebody said the word math was banned!

I'm not Kargiver, but with me it said to remove the "s" word.  The only "s" words were - "S&S", (no parenthesis).  Once I put parenthesis ("S&S") around it, it let me post.

It just did it again.  It said please remove the -"s" word.  Watch, now I'll put parenthesis around initial post, and it will let me post.

I used text speak "u" instead of "you" and it banned me.  I think (yes, I know I could be wrong) that instead of using a list of banned words they are using a spell checker as a filter.  "S&S" is not in the dictionary, nor is "u" - without the quotes that I had to use to get around it.

    suck

Ok, I am back home and get the posting box. I am really perplexed. Can't post from my office computer. Everything is the same. I use the same browser, I use the same server, I have the same add bans and scam filters. They ask me to re-register, but I don't want to mess with the fairly good thing I have going for me on this computer. Dottie, are you listening?

Stopped at MB on my way home to pick up the rest of the ingredients for the pepper relish. What a perfect weekend to do them. Thinking of doing them tmw. Saturday - so if they come out well, I will bring a jar to our friends. I know, they will love them too. They are having a cook out, so she might even open it and we all can have some. Hm! I should probably bring an extra jar for her to keep. I am only going to make half the recipe. It will still be a lot. Peppers (4 green and 2 red for color) and onions are already over 6 lbs. and I am not even counting the hot peppers.
Have a great weekend all, whatever your plans are. - Pingo
