    Re: December 2013

    Good morning,

Snapped on TV to see a local town was at 16 degrees!  Supposed to go out a bit later this morning - we'll see.

Tomorrow you're coming home, Pingo?  Good to get in before the storm.  I'm hoping they're wrong in their predictions of what we'll get here.  I'm sure you'll be sad to leave before the baby is born.  Will you fly back out when she arrives?  Thanks for the vote of confidence on the popovers.  G.T.  likes them, so will make up a batch next time they're here.  Certainly not hard, just helpful to have all the little tips like room temp milk and eggs, and pre-warming the pan.  Next time I'll fill my cups 3/4 full, because with filling them half, I got 9 and threw a little away - didn't want to overfill them. - Interesting about the SAS shoes.

Hope you're seeing continued relief this morning, Kargiver.  I agree with the others that the appt. with neurologist should be kept.  As miscricket said, let him clear you in that area and give you a clean bill of health once and for all - oops, it was Pingo that said that.  Anyway, I agree.

Oh, SS's DD's cat has arrived.  I called last night after supper and they had just gotten home with him.  I'm sure he had a nice warm bed last night sleeping with DD.  He'll be a much loved cat with a lot of attention.

    Re: December 2013

Thanks, still experiencing about a 70-80% improvement that started 10 minutes after the adjustment.  Hanging in there with the remaining 20-30% and looking forward to Thursday's PT and chiropractic appointments.  I'm even better in the mornings (which had been unbearable)without  one single drug for vertigo or nausea...I had been needing as much Dramamine as safe every day.  None since Sunday, no nausea, no vomiting.  Haven't needed to take any drugs since Sunday morning.  ETA: and that's enough evidence for me that I'm on the right track.  3 doctors have already said outright that many times these things are never diagnosed so the elusive clean bill is never actually obtained no matter how many specialists one sees, as frustrating as that may be.  If after Thursday I don't get another big improvement I'll reassess my direction.

Hoping the snow holds off until the afternoon.

I still appreciate any and all suggestions from everyone, but reading and responding to everything is still a challenge; I'm sure you'll understand if I don't defend and over explain my choices.  I spent far too much energy yesterday on that, and I really don't have it to spare.  I will take all suggestions in the helpful spirit they are offered, but what has really been helping the most is your thoughtful concern, prayers, and virtual hugs.  :)

Yep, Winter, 42 is upon me; it's the 3rd.  Thanks for remembering!

    happy New Year, everyone!!!

I had a post last night that never appeared; I had a feeling that would happen because I had a piece of HTML code in the post box when it loaded, and that usually means it isn't going to work.  So, if you see <br> in the otherwise blank post box, reload the page so it disappears before you try to write a post.

    Good morning,

glad you are still feeling better, Kar. 80 % is a great improvement. Hope the storm will not cancel your next chiro appointment. Just wondering. Could it be the long drive home from PA, that twisted your neck and caused all the trouble?  Cheer up. The new year can only be better.

tt, one of our Christmas gifts from DS and DIL was two open tickets to come back, when our GD is here. With open means, no fixed dates. Can come whenever and stay and leave whenever. More expensive, that the cheapos, we always try to find.

Hats, too bad you don't eat clams. This dip is really easy and very good. I love the idea of adding Worchester sauce. I love fried clams too. Especially from one of the shacks. Wish it was summer.

So cute, that Buttons (or whatever you are calling him now) is already sleeping in DD's bed. I have never brought a cat home, but I do recall how our puppy cried the first few nights missing her siblings.

Icer, Thinking of all of you in Abington today. Will be a tough day to get through. But your support of each other is just amazing. Blessings!

BG, good to see your posts. You were especially hit hard in 2013. 2014 can only be better.

November, Rama, Robin and Miscricket, you don't post too often, but whenever you do, your posts are appreciated.

If I have forgotten anyone, I apologize. It was unintentional.

Wishing you all a peaceful, joyous and healthy New Year with thanks for your friendship and support throughout the year. Blessings!

    Re: December 2013

The night this happened I had slept on my stomach with my forehead lifted toward the ceiling all night long (my forearm under my forehead so I could breath), yes, crunching the top of my spine, especially C1, very badly.  Why, you ask?  You might recall my cold; I was desperately trying to avoid coughing from post nasal drip.  Good news, I didn't cough that night, lol.

ETA: my symptoms were so dramatic and scary upon getting up it didn't occur to me I'd slept in a position that warrented an adjustment (I thought I'd had an aneurism or stroke), but my aunt said that if I'd been seen right away to put C1 back into neutral I'd have recovered more than 80% with one adjustment.  But, since the nerve has been pinched for 3 weeks 70-80 % recovery with one visit is to be expected.

Pingo that was a lovely gift. When is she due again? End of January I think? Maybe the 25th?? My niece is due January 15th, with a little girl. Happy New Year!

I think I may leave a little early. I'm not really needed here. I brought my new Blue tooth speaker in today to show some co-workers. It's awesome and sounds so good!

Thank you, Pingo.  Indeed, given all the pieces coming together, I'm very encouraged.  If it isn't actually the root cause and I don't get the continued relief I expect, though, I'll be more than willing to not just see a neurologist, but a neuro-opthamologist, actually, the most appropriate next step imo.

Out for a bit this morning, good to get fresh air.

Does everyone else have the main page of the Forums that no longer updates with newest postings on the various subjects?  Wonder if that is ever going to change back.  By looking at that now, you can't tell if there are any new postings.

Had quite a conglomeration of things for lunch, now thinking I will make fried rice for supper.  Everyone else doing Chinese too?

Got a very lovely card from a friend about valuing the kind of friendship we have and being grateful for someone like me in her life - - what a nice verse, and yes, it was Hallmark. Sentiments we all feel about someone, but hardly ever express it.  I'm so glad she did this time.

I'd love Chinese, but DH doesn't like it, though last year we each got different take out so maybe we will do that again. I don't get an updated forum page either. What a nice card you received tt.

The farther from Christmas the better!  I always got "Merry Christmas and happy birthday" on at least half of my presents.  Felt it would have been more fair to have been born in July, lol. How did you fare with it being the 25th, Winter?

Fresh air...sounds delightful.  Maybe I'll see if I can walk Gracie.  I've got serious cabin fever!

I wish DH liked Chinese food...but, alas.  I see he took some frozen soup out from the freezer downstairs.  Exciting.

eta: I love those cards...so nice, tt.

    Re: December 2013

    Happy new year to all!

we actually have plans tonight - which is crazy since we almost always stay in! We are going to dinner with another couple and the kids are spending the night at their grandparents. We have big plans to clean the house tmrw morning before we pick them up and maybe get rid of some of their old toys and clothes (to make room for the new Xmas presents!!)

pingo thank u for the New Years wish. Glad you are enjoying your trip so much. What a nice present your son and DIL got you for Christmas! Having had two babies in the past 4 years I can say that having parents around is very helpful. Im sure you will want to visit right away to meet your newest famiLy member but if you are considering a longer stay, what will probably be more helpful is if you visited when the baby was about a month old when things have calmed down and the new family has fallen into a routine. Those first few days/weeks of motherhood are so hard for a new mom. Lots of emotions/hormonal changes and usually the mother is feeling uncomfortable as a result of the birth and tired! I remember people would come visit and after about 30 mins I just wanted them to leave!! But once those first few weeks are over, things get much better and the new parents will be ready - and eager!- for some family company and help. Such an exciting time! Have they picked a name yet? We didn't share the names we picked before the baby was born but some people do.

Kar, I'm so happy to hear you are feeling better.  I think all of us were very worried about you! Best wishes for continued healing in 2014.

TT I love popovers but I've never made them successfully on the first batch. Kudos to you for making them look so good on your first try (or at least first batch in awhile!) We aren't having Chinese tonight because we had it on Christmas (bc original plans were canceled last minute due to hosts illness) but usually we have it on NY eve. Homemade fried rice is one of the foods my kids lovE. I make it a lot with an egg and some frozen broccoli or other veggies thrown in. It helps if you make the rice ahead of time and refrigerate it so it's cold and stiff before you fry it up. Enjoy!

winter, hope you end up leaving work early. Three kinds of take out is a funny idea! I like that! When does DS go back to school? My DD preschool starts again on Thursday but she doesn't go to school on Fridays so she will have one day and then be off again for three days. She loves school so she will be happy to go.

happy new year to Hats, princess, November, icer, SS, bg, robin and everyone else!

Rama DS goes back on Thursday, he's currently in Western NY with his dad. He goes every year after Christmas. I suspect if I get Chinese food DH will get a scallop roll (not sushi) from a local place. Enjoy your date name with DH and cleaning frenzy. Happy New Year!

ETA: Kar, my mom's birthday is the 14th so she also made it a point that birthdays for me were a BIG deal. :)

    Re: December 2013

What fun plans you have for tonight, Rama.  Great way to see the new year in, doing something completely different!  I'm trying to catch up on washes this afternoon, before any snow comes and blocks my very low to the ground dryer vent.

I keep hearing these thuds - go and look, and it's not Cheerio - all I can think is that it's large birds flying into the sunny windows.  I don't see anything lying on the ground, but heard another big thud a few minutes ago.  I'm going to step out and check and make sure my chimney isn't falling apart!  Either that, or it's something in my attic knocking things over ???  That, I won't check by myself, thank you.

ETA:  Nope.  Everything looks intact.  No branches or anything.  I'm wondering if it's where they removed and put back siding - expanding and retracting with the extreme cold.
