Oh tt  - such a lovely picture. I am so envious of your Cyclamen. Could have been mine, you know. But I throw mine out :( --- So, envious!
Are you referring to me about the cat on the table??? I certainly don't mind. But I do have a preference, that cats - or any animal for that sake - not walk around on kitchen counters, while someone is preparing my dinner. Somehow, it does not make me feel very well. - Pingo

That's why I said you and I could never have a cuppa together in my kitchen, because I know when I'm not looking, she's up on the counter - and as you can see - on the table.  The cyclamen is nice, a little leggy this bloom around, but filling in nicely.

tt, what a handsome picture of Cheerio - it really shows off his beautiful markings.  And, your Cyclamen is just gorgeous!

    Re: February Chat 2011

tt, I could definitely have a cuppa with you - anytime.  As long as you are not fixing me a tuna sandwich and Cheerio walks right over it, sniffing it and take a taste. That's what happened to me in a friend's home. And she served it to me as if nothing was wrong. I probably got a "block" from that time. I felt ill, had to excuse myself and couldn't eat my sandwich.
Now I meet this dear friend at a coffee shop or some where for lunch. I still love her dearly.
Btw. your cyclamen is just beautiful, I am so envious. You must know, who will save cyclamens from now on. - Pingo

    6th time trying to post this post - - - -

Yes, Cheerio felt this was her best profile.  I particularly like the way it captured the color of her eye and the white of her chinny chin chin and throat.

    Re: February Chat 2011

    Good morning everyone,
Did a bit of weight lifting yesterday. Now my shoulders are so sore. I have been doing my hip exercises, and thought I needed to strengthen my arms as well. Apparently I do. Noticed it this morning, when I lifted the coffee pot.
tt, are you still having trouble with BDC? It looks like they changed back to the old format. I need to ask you this. What is the interesting thing on the wall to the left of your cyclamen? I have been trying to figure it out, but finally gave up. It looks like a huge necklace.
Kar, how did it go with the shampoo yesterday? Did you confuse the poor puppy by dragging her upstairs? Our dog was a Golden, so it was always such a mess with her long coat. I imagine it would be easier with a lab - even though it is a messy job, no matter what.
Going to see friends tonight, and I am bringing dessert. I am going to make an old fashioned Danish apple cake. Sugar toasted bread crumbs layered with sauteed apples. Then covered with a thick layer of whipped creme and decorated with dots of red currant jelly. Yummy!
Well, I better get going - chat later! - Pingo

She should have that one framed - truly a professional shot.  How many pictures show her beautiful face and all her markings down her back and tail?

Gracie looks about the same today, but she smells delicious and her coat is like velvet.  She fell asleep on me (her head draped over my neck like a blanket) while I was blow drying her.  She hates the bath, but the blow dry seems to be heaven on earth to her.  At least we leave the salon on a relaxed note.

6 times trying to post, tt?!  Goodness, what a pain.  Thanks for sticking with us!

I'm getting ready to go East for lunch with a friend from work.   Gracie will be out; should be nice for her, 30s and sunny.  See you guys when I get back!

    Blessings,
    ~kar

We were posting at the same time, Pingo.  We were at the dog wash, and she behaved so well.  There were other dogs there, too.  I was very pleased and proud of her.

Sorry about your shoulders.  It's a great thing to weight train your whole body!  I hope you'll start more gently, though, after they heal from yesterday's over zealousness! :)

OK, I'm late to the shower.  Must hurry!

    Re: February Chat 2011

    Good morning,

White lacey thing on the wall next to the window is a mirror, Pingo.  It hung for years in the room off the kitchen, but then a couple of years ago I decided to hang it by the back door.  Different, I like it there, sort of gives me the feel of an old country house.

Finally got my hair cut yesterday and look half way human again.  It had gotten so long (for me), and I was starting to get used to it - that's a bad thing.

Youngest son and family left this morning from Logan for Aruba.  Glad to get away from all this cold weather.  The kids will be having withdrawal pains from their little Reese.  She's such a love bug.  Their other Nana is taking care of her, so she'll be getting plenty of fill in love.

Talking of giving dogs baths - I washed our Samoyan once or twice in the tub, and more than once outside with tomato juice when she got sprayed by skunks.  After that we found money in our tight budget to have her professionally groomed.  It's an ongoing chore to keep their fur tangle free, and she hated being combed.

As usual, errands to run today.  Have a dental appt. tomorrow and then meeting a friend for the rest of the day, movies perhaps, if the show timing is right.  Friday I'm having my taxes done, so hope the rain/snow they're talking about holds off.  Hope you all have a good day.  Posting now, I hope.

tt, can't reply to your post, but I can't get over how much Boo and Cheerio look alike.  I posted 2 pictures below.  Does Cheerio have the white on her chest too?  I know they both have the black stripe down the back and the striped tail.  Or am I imagining it?

    Re: February Chat 2011

The top picture could be Cheerio, Amber.  No, she just has the white on her chin and throat, with just a little at the base of her nose.  Her chest is tiger striped, and her belly is that orangey cheerio color.  No white on her paws either.  And to think when I saw her in the Animal Rescue League I really thought she was pretty ugly!  What was I thinking??

Cheerio ugly?  Never!  LOL!  She is quite beautiful as is Boo is handsome.  Everyone fawns over my orange one Tigger who is a beauty, but I think Boo is just as good looking : )  I just love that picture of Cheerio though. Good enough to be hung up.  Have a great day today!

    Shaker,
Have fun at Foxwood. Hope you come back with a big purse. We haven't been there for a very long time either. We like to stay over. DH likes to play Black Jack and if he is winning, he likes to keep going. He usually wins, not much - but at least he wins enough to pay for room and food. I - on the other hand - get tired of the casino pretty fast. So, if we have a room, I can just go to up to bed. Besides, I absolutely hate the 2 hours drive home at night.
    Wish you luck - Pingo

    Re: February Chat 2011

    Hi Everybody -

Nice to catch up on posts.  Looks as though everybody is holding up well.  One more week until March.  The end is in sight.  This is a great winter to take a winter trip.  That's for sure.  Too bad we don't have a crystal ball in October.  tt, hope your son and family have a nice time in Aruba.  My brother is taking my father to Hilton Head for two weeks in March.  He's really looking forward to it. I keep asking if I can hide in one of the suitcases!  Love the picture of Cheerio looking out the window and your leprechaun on the table.

We had a great time on our ski weekend, although I certainly did not do any skiing.  Spent my time in front of the fire with my father reading, listening to music and chatting while everybody was out on the slopes.  We had two chalets but everybody came together for meals.  Had our own hot tub and it was wonderful being submerged in warm water with our heads sticking up in the cold.  The kids loved it and so did I.  My son and his family are skiing through Friday and staying with me Saturday night before flying out early Sunday afternoon. It was wonderful being together again.

Back to the drudgery of the office, although I really think I would miss the daily social contact.  Besides, I promised my boss another year, and I will honor my commitment.  Today wasn't bad but yesterday morning, I thought I would freeze in my steps.

pingo, your apple cake sounds delicious.  I was drooling reading the description. Over the weekend, I made what my mother used to call Washington's birthday cake - two layer yellow cake with raspberry jam spread between the layers and topped with powdered sugar.  So simple and it was gone in a flash.  Good thing I made two.

    Good morning,

After 3 tries of posting last night and having it disappear, I gave up.  I see Dottie hasn't responded to my post in the Issues with Forum thread either.

Mothermitzi, good to hear about your fun week-end.  It's great to be able to get together with the whole family.

Won't be on the boards much today, dental appt then lunch and kalooping with a friend.  Hope you all have a good one.

    Good morning all,
Looks like we are just going to have rain tomorrow. Yeah! Just coldn't bear to see another layer of the white stuff. I have now grass patches showing - brown, but grass.
mothermitzy, it sounds like you had a great trip with your family. How wonderful you all were able to get together.
How is your Mandeville doing? Mine are showing strong growth right now, telling me it is almost time to put them back out. Will have to cut them back again  and hopefully make more.
Kar, hope you had a nice visit to "the East" - did you get to do any shopping?
It is just too bad, tt - that you are still having so much trouble with BDC. But we surely appreciate you hanging in there. Hope you have a good visit with your dentist and that you will get a sticker.
We had a lovely evening last night at friends. Met a new couple. They were delightful and very interesting to talk to. They have travelled a lot and been at some of the same places as we. We hit it off right away and had a lot of laughs during the evening. Hope to meet them again. They all loved my dessert. I will have to "translate" the recipe, before I can post it. Europeans measure their recipes in grams weighing everything on a scale, while we do cups.
Office is calling today. Chat later - Pingo

tt, I am having the same issues still.  I did reply back to the emails I was receiving asking for an update, but got no response, that was last week.  It would be nice if they could at least give an update considering how long we have been dealing with these issues.

Amber, I feel sorry for you too. It seems like BDC is "stuck" for whatever reason they give.
I know, it does not solve the original problem, but have you considered downloading Firefox? You may be happier with that browser all together.
    Just a suggestion - Pingo

    Hi Pingo,

Thank you for the suggestion.  I would love to but it is not allowed on my work pc  : (  I still manage and my problems aren't as bad as tt, who I feel really bad for, but wish they would update us. But I too feel they can't fix it, so just tell us.

MM, your Washington's birthday cake is more commonly called Washington Pie, and my mother used to serve it on the 22nd of Feb. too.  In England, this dessert is called a  "Victoria Sponge" but here it needed a patriotic name so poor old GW was hauled out again!
